After 18 years it finally happened... I was hacked

So, on the Mobile App, it now has the ability to handle Authentication…

I continue to have a million questions.

Only on the IoS version for now.

Android still uses two distinct apps.

My old physical authenticator finally died so I want to use the digital authenticator as a replacement.

I’m using an android device and have the Battle.net app downloaded, when i use the slide out bar on the left-hand side and click on the Authenticator option it redirects me to the google play store to download the Battle.net Authenticator except i’m receiving an error message stating “This app isn’t available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android.” Is there a solution to this anywhere?

Not at the moment for Android devices. The current version of the Authenticator application on the Google Play Store is incompatible with newer Android devices. We are working on an update that we hope to release soon.

That’s weird. The Authenticator installed and runs just fine on my Android 13 device; if anyone were going to have difficulty with needing an older version of Android it would be me or anyone else running 13.

What exactly are you trying to put the Authenticator on and what version of Android is it running?

Thank you very much, I appreciate the prompt response.

I’m attempting to install it on a Google Pixel 6 which is also an Android 13 device when I receive that message.

Token and cookie stealing attacks are a serious threat to online security, especially in the era of 2FA. Many websites and applications use tokens and cookies to store user information and authenticate sessions. However, these data can be stolen by malicious programs or hackers, who can then use them to bypass 2FA and access user accounts without any further verification. This can compromise user privacy and data, as well as cause damage to online services such as World of Warcraft, Discord and so on. Therefore, it is important to find alternative ways of securing online sessions that do not rely on tokens and cookies.

If 2FA can’t protect against token stealers or cookie stealers then what use is 2FA and passwords and so on? We really need a revolution in this whole way we login to things.

Weird.

The version I see on the Play Store (2.6.0.15) is marked as compatible with my device (Google Pixel 7 Pro) and only requiring Android 5 and above.

I’m using version 2.6.0.15 of the mobile authenticator app that I downloaded from the Google Play Store about 3 months ago when I got my new phone, a Google Pixel 6a, and it’s working fine.
