If anything it just shows that only toxic people is left in this community. It’s about time for me to leave then.
If the allegations against Afrasaiabi are corroborated, I would like to see all the numerous NPC s that he named after himself, and his characters in game- changed to anything else.
If the accusations that Afrasaiabi’s x- girlfriend is portrayed in game as 1- a woman with her head chopped off ( the quiet woman trope), and 2 -a disgusting monster, prove accurate- I think those should also be removed.
The quests can stay- probably too hard to remove.
They are now officially working on removing Afrasiabi’s references from WoW.
How many of you self-righteous people feel ok w/ Hunter Biden selling his artwork? Or your President complementing a CHILD telling her she looks 19??? You will NEVER agree with someone 100% or condone their sins. So, sit back, enjoy your GAME, and get over yourself. Yes, Blizz took out past NPCs for far less. As someone else pointed out, Fras Siabi (I am not going to call him by his given name) is literally interwoven throughout the game. It is going to take a LOT to re-write quests, items, and ENTIRE FREAKING ZONES to remove/rework all that he did! Did you read his bio? He literally did Elwynn Forest, WOTLK, and Dire Maul’s intricate quest. Thunderfury anyone?
Before getting on your high horse, do your research. This is a GAME. I play it to IGNORE REALITY. Yes, the complaint is HORRENDOUS. I just read it. The company is going to pay MILLLLLLLIONNNSSSSSSS to the women, and the Cali Employment place. They deserve to. Our content will be SO DELAYED. Guess what? LIFE SUCKS. Get over it. Blizz will survive. They will learn their lesson, and Activision is going to have them on a SHORT LEASH now.
Right because thats the best rational outcome for the game that a lot of good people still work on and the players who still enjoy playing it. How about we just hope some good changes happen so this doesn’t happen again and move on to better days?
Your post is famous!
'In Afrasiabi’s case, the forums feature threads that call Afrasiabi a “stain” on the WoW community. ’
here you go enjoy
Like half the game was created by him, particularly in the early days. I don’t think they can delete everything.
Yep. The thing people fail to understand is that, yeah, you can remove his name and references to him from the game, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was largely responsible for the success of the game. It wouldn’t have been the same without him. You can remove his name, but you can’t undo what he contributed over the years.
Blizzard could nuke the entire game and start over. What will they do in 5-6 years when they discover one of their new employees touched a kid or made a racist comment? Nuke it all and start over again?
Last I checked, selling artwork isn’t illegal, and this isn’t some democratic or republican convention so bring that crap somewhere else.
So…should not ask for anything because someone else in the future could be identified as of doing the same? Sure that sounds perfectly feasible…>.>
They announced they were doing that.
I’m not sure what the fuss is about now?
Oh please. Obviously “sick” was an exaggeration for having sympathy for the situation. It isn’t exclusive to Americans to have emotions and values so don’t sit here and pretend like they’re wrong for feeling the way they do.
I don’t know true that is. I got the impression he didn’t join the team until late into the development of Vanilla.
But regardless it’s not like he signed his name on the content he did created. It’s very unlikely they are going to touch anything other than the NPCs he named after himself and his Everquest personas. Which lets be real were kind of cringe to begin with
You can separate Art from the Artist; in many ways, you have to in order to appreciate and move on.
For example; I love Picasso’s work, but really detest the man he was.
When a person has contributed to a genre, to society, and their work has been appreciated and revered, it becomes an entity unto itself, separate from the Artist, and a part of history.
Alex Afrasiabi’s contribution to WoW will always remain, that doesn’t mean we want to see references to him anymore, and in light of the situation at hand it’s respectful to victims to remove anything named after him.
And, if you read this:
“An employee brought these 2013 events to our attention in June 2020,” a spokesperson for Activision Blizzard told Kotaku when asked about the “Cosby Suite” images and allegations against Afrasiabi. “We immediately conducted our own investigation and took corrective action. At the time of the report, we had already conducted a separate investigation of Alex Afrasiabi and terminated him for his misconduct in his treatment of other employees."
… it means they were going to continue to leave in all honorific references for him in game - despite what they believed to be true. Very damming.

Instead of deleting them, maybe just make Afasiabi’s characters targetable. Work in a quest line where his victims give you a quest to bring back his head.
I can understand the frustration but not the conclusion.
Is like demolish buildings because you discover ONE of the bricklayers did some sh-t.
Dumb leftists being leftists, nothing new here.
Most likely this was because they were keeping his departure quiet, and removing the references at that time would have drawn unwanted attention, and made it obvious that he left under bad circumstances. Remember this was back in 2020, before the scandal blew up.
Yes. That is precisely what I mean.
