AFKers in AV (classic) needs a better system

Can we make harsher penalties and maybe even have ACTIVE GM’s in battlegrounds to look for frequent AFKers. I’ve had games with the same players AFKing for multiple days.

Player’s who are actively participating in these games shouldn’t have to be constantly burdened with reporting other players. Harsher penalties should be allowed to be administered by active GM’s who can receive notifications when there are players abusing the game.

Harsher penalties would include a massive lost in rank. Or a complete reset as these players clearly haven’t earned rank, in addition to a week ban and a debuff that prevents honor gained for an extended period. The people who think this is too harsh, are clearly people who abuse the system and leech off of the community.

Retail or Classic? I notice in retail AV the cave AFK’ers do get noticed/called out fairly often

Either way I don’t think they would ever have real-life human being GMs actively monitoring a casual BG, they’ve got bigger fish to fry I’m guessing

Most of the suggestions are pointless and wouldn’t change anything. Especially when there is a much easier, much more elegant solution. Even better, we already have the tools available to us.

You simply create a Shard/Instance designated for degenerate behavior like this.

And now any time someone is flagged as an afk’er/ similar type of degen player, you still let them play, but every time they queue, they all get put in the same Shard/instance!

So now imagine they port in to their next AV … and it’s just them and 39 of their afk buddies… all standing in the cave, wondering who’s going to go do all the work.

Even better, it’s not like one Faction or the other is immune to this. So both sides would just be losers sitting in the cave.

Once they realize what’s going on, they can apply to have their flag removed-- after no less than 6 months. Next time they get caught, it’s 1 year. etc

I would absolutely love this too. Either way, we would need an active GM to avoid other players reporting to abuse the system. There is always some sort of degen who would think it is funny to report people constantly to get attention etc etc.

Obviously. It’s not a secret, Blizzard has a well established history of not just taking a report and banning people, etc.

In fact, their track record is to be entirely too generous with letting people get away with degen behavior before they make a move.

So once you get put in the “Degen Shard” … you know damn well you belong there.

Sadly, I don’t see Blizzard hiring people who are fans of the game to do this. I’d take a second job to be a Battleground GM. Hint hint blizzard!

You need to move this over to the Classic forums, this is for Retail lol.

Retail doesn’t have issues with AFKs in AV, since there’s no real need to honor farm.

It would be a waste of time in Retail, but in Classic, yeah you’re basically getting free gear/ranking lol.

Retail: Conquest (Rated PvP) > Bloody Tokens (World PvP) > Honor (Casual PvP)

Seems… like an absurd claim. Esp when you immediately follow it up with:

That’s what AV is: “casual” PvP.

But w/e. I’m more interested in using the system I suggest for EVERY part of the game, ie: INCLUDING PvE. Degens aren’t limited to PvP, it just attracts more of them.

I mean, most do it for their daily win since it gives 125 conquest or something like that, and that it- it’s a one and done.

Honor gear is weaker than Bloody token gear, and it’s been that way since DF.

Basically, farming honor isn’t something you do in Retail much anymore.

The best PvP gear isn’t from honor, at all.

So it’d be pointless to afk in epic BGs, unless you’re ultra-casual or something.

Honor is only used for consumables, and gem sockets you can apply to PvP gear.

But once you have all that or enough, it’s useless.

AFKs only bother me because it’s still one less person fighting, but not because of the free honor they’re getting, could care less about that.

Sockets, recipes, etc…

At the end of S1: I had quickly and easily outgrown Bloody Tokens. I think I ended the season with like 17,000.

I had … maybe not quickly, but somewhat easily outgrown Conquest. I had plenty, enough to resell 10-15k worth gear at the vendor.

But HONOR? I STILL have 12-15 patterns to learn. But before I start buying patterns, I need to buy sockets ALL OVER AGAIN. Which means it’ll be some time before I have leftover honor for that.

So… I strongly disagree. The need for Honor feels endless. Maybe not for GEAR, but that’s not a stipulation for the discussion. It’s easy to argue why someone would take that argument “I don’t need it for gear, just PATTERNS… so … why should I have to actually PvP for that? I’ll just sit in the cave.” Except, that’s not how it works.

I actually think it’s stupid that you can’t buy those patterns with some Conquest-equivalence. If it’s 7500 Honor… couldn’t it be … 3000 Conquest? I’m sure there’s a formula for that, so just apply it. Sucks that you need SOOOOOOO much Conquest at the start, and then … it’s 100% USELESS. wtf??

Lol, I legit forgot about the profession stuff, you got me there.

Haven’t really been touching profs too much, I just buy what I need from the AH, or have it made.

I pretty much skip honor gear altogether since Bloody Token gear is just higher in ilvl for BGs and whatnot.

Agreed.

Conquest becomes kinda useless too once you get everything, I just buy those boxes to send to alts that contain random conquest gear.

Beginning of Season (right now): since all currencies are time-gated, everyone is going to have a mix of mostly Honor, 1-2 Bloody Token, 1-2 Conquest.

It won’t be “just go get your Conquest suit” for … what… 9-10 weeks?

I’ll be honest- I rarely see AFK’ers in my BGs. Not much these days.

Maybe some late stragglers at the start, in Epics, but that’s it really.

Most just leave immediately at the first sign of a loss.

And those I do see AFK, I’ll report and they get that inactive debuff that shows a icon of a cow, and they have like ~30 seconds to do some PvP before they get kicked.

Those tend to be folks that alt-F4’d out of the game or something, and they disconnect and get booted anyways.
