Can we get a better Affliction like mop or wrath/cata affliction this new one is extremely boring and weak

I couldn’t agree more. I love affliction and it is frustrating to see it like this. I even switched to demonology as a result. Demonology is ok, but I would love to have old affliction back.

I wish we could have back MoP Affliction but the biggest part of that gameplay was snapshotting which made or broke your DPS. :confused:

It would be very cashmoney of Blizz to make curses baseline for Afflic… :open_mouth: and give Curse of Exhaustion back…? But yeah, Afflic damage isn’t scary.

can we just make a rule going forward on this forum that instead of saying “oh its weak and it sucks”, the poster has to describe what content they are referring to in which the spec sucks? just so everyone is on the same page. for example, affy does suck in M+, but affy is realllllll strong in raids on literally every fight. just some clarification is all

usually i just take a quick look at their profile and decide. not that i am some extremely good mythic raider but the OP is running drain soul for aff, FnB for destro, and is 5/9 normal.

that said i agree with OP and also find aff boring af compared to previous xpacs, but as you said, its just so strong in raids right now

Affliction brings some things to raids that the other warlock specs don’t. For instance, an interrupt on Champions, easy to do with felpup, very much impossible with demo spec while maintaining your dps. A slow on blockade adds with succubus. The ability to heal yourself and not put a strain on healers during Mekka by using 2 or 3 stacks of drain life and putting agony on the robots. Hardly a boring trash spec in raids.

agreed on the boring aspect as well. and if OP doesnt want to play optimally and plays how they want i will 100% back that, ill just argue on the point of it being weak due to not being optimal. like i said, just would like some clarification on content/scenario in which the opinion is being formed so those of us in a position to offer advice can do so

Started off SM/Ruin in Vanilla, Come BC, I went affliction right up until last week.

Blahh! Affliction took a nose dive somewhere around the release of BC. They removed spell rotation, they added a different casting spell “unstable affliction” I hate unstable affliction, just absolutely ruined what the affliction warlock was, and they also added spell procs. This reinforced the spell priority system which makes me even hate it all the more. Bring back Immolate and delete unstable affliction. I would be holding my breath if I was going to wish them to remove procs too and just make it a flat dps.

While BFA’s Affliction Model is awful and i agree with that. I fail to see how reverting Aff to MoP version will make it more engaging, especially with snapshotting gone. The whole snapshotting mechanic was pretty core for Affliction back then otherwise i was just apply DoTs and nuke/channel.

What made reap soul feel so good to begin with is that it sort of gave you the feeling of snapshotting, not as good but probably the best possible alternative they could of came up with.

Get a demo lock to use a felpup in a raid. Nearly impossible.

Who the hell has warlocks on interrupt on champs. 1/8 mythic raiders apparently.

When people say “Affliction sucks”, everyone and their brother knows they are talking about content outside of raids. If all you do is raid, and don’t touch other areas of the game, then Affliction is a fine spec for you to play. Just because a spec is “really strong” in raid shouldn’t mean that in other areas of the game it’s okay for them be rock bottom tier.

I literally do a 10 a week in my Lock and raid on it (begrudgingly). I don’t touch any other content on it. The minute raid ends I play another toon. You’re kept around for cookies and summons (usually with jokes that they’re the only reason why you’re invited), and then on top of it all three specs are boring. I’ll gladly sacrifice some damage if it means not having my entire damage come in the form of a 30 second rotation with a cooldown every three minutes or being viable in content that isn’t raids.

This has been a problem since the expansion started. Don’t believe me? Go look in the old forums where one tester apologized saying that they did the best they could and knew the class would be garbage this expansion.

i have never once disagreed that affliction is in a bad spot gameplay wise. not a single time. i despise the spec, i play destro and demo mostly. ill play affliction where it will outperform but thats my playstyle as a prog raider. I’ve tried it in M+, and ive agreed with ojo and everyone else here in saying it sucks in M+. But providing context to everything is pretty important. In the case someone is complaining that affy is bad in raid, then hey, there are multiple warlocks here who have shown they would be happy to help. Also as a warlock youre kept around for far more than cookies because you have 2 of the top 5 raid specs in the game. but i digress. all i was asking is to avoid the blanket statements because its gonna lead to a lot less arguments and misinformation overall
