I played affliction to gladiator s2 s3 s4 and played some of the top teams in MLG tournaments. I’m back after about 10 years without a pc and I can count about ten plus nerfs to affliction locks.
-soul swap gone
- haunt nerfed dmg and now a talent that no one uses
-no pet is a huge nerf. (No cs while cc/kicked)
-one school of magic can’t even wall or hearthstone while kicked
-fell flame dot refresher gone - devour magic nerf no longer on felhunter
-UA limited to one target without talent
-fel armor and demon armor nerf used to add sp or healing %
-nightfall nerf in dmg plus talent that no one takes
-siphon life used to be coupled with corruption, good luck with your globals casting that
I could keep going but there’s 10 off the top of my head.
Whoever the pvp dev is should sit down as an affliction lock and play some games against a double melee team in 3v3 and tell me how much fun they are having.
Affliction is easily the number one target in every arena game played.
Affliction was all about control. Fear is the best cc in the game, aside from maybe stuns. Fear breaks from one tick of one dot now, maybe 2. You can’t even cover it with UA if you want it to last.
Malefic rapture is an awesome new addition. I just think lock does not need more dmg. I do most damage almost every game by a lot of left alone to free cast. But anyone past 2k knows you train the affliction warlock.
We need half the utility that was nerfed away back. For instance…getting a UAs off vs even one melee is tough without aura mastery. We lost refresher fel flame as well as soul swap. As well as drain life refresh.
Damage is not the issue. It’s having the ability to actually play my class outside of having wall up.
A 1 min aura mastery would not be OP. Please don’t link it with wall. Maybe make it instant cast and off the global. Especially if lock is one school.
My wall is 40% on a 3 min cool down. Rogues feint is 30% on like a 10s cooldown.
Maybe give kicks a DR.
I don’t think more health like soul link is really the issue. It’s being able to cast spells. I’d much rather have to cast a fear to live than just get beat up 20% less while locked out all game from doing anything. God forbid I cast a spell that can be dispelled.
I feel like a lot of prepatch was just giving ppl back stuff they took away. No more curses, new expansion, you get curses back! But malefic rapture is a cool new mechanic.
Affliction locks are the squishiest of them all. That’s fine, but let us have some more output when we are targeted. It’s really not fun getting kicked stunned kick stunned repeat. There’s about a 0% chance I get a rapture off vs double melee. So cool new things like that could use some utility to go with it.
