Affliction Needs a "Misery" Mechanic

Title says it all. There needs to be a talent that causes Corruption to apply Agony to the target. Shadow should not exclusively have such ease at spreading DoTs when Warlocks have always been the preeminent DoT class, and have far more of them. That isn’t even counting the fact that we are saddled with enough to do as is; given how we have to constantly spam the much hated Malefic Rapture spell (Why is this even still in game? Players have told you again and again that we HATE it). Why is Rapture and this an issue? Because we’re usually being saturated in more Soul Shards than we can use. Why are we saturated in shards?

Because we’re spamming the same keys to reapply Agony and Corruption, again and again… and again.

While we’re at it, can we also have a glyph to replace Wither for Destruction with the original (and far superior) Immolate effect? Such a downgrade to have this spell offer no visual notice that we cast it after a few seconds.

Oh and Warlock’s Spell Idle effect when? Cmon, stop being bloody lazy. Some have claimed the reason we still don’t have this, is that one of the Devs doesn’t want their female B.Elf Lock main to look “evil”. I don’t care if the reason is actually that or not. I merely say this. If the rest of us wanted to play a Mage, we’d play a Mage.

Why do we have to constantly beg for basic quality of life things?

The Spell ‘Vile Taint’ can mass spread Agony, but I agree, the Affliction Class should be just as capable as the Shadow Class with spreading their DoTs. I further agree that Malefic Rapture should be swapped for something else because, as Affliction, I’ve been SWIMMING in Soul Shards. I rarely use em. Someone at Blizzard NEEDS to take this feedback and work on the class, give us Affliction Warlocks some love.

For me, I want Malefic Rapture removed/changed into something else that can actually CONSUME the Soul Shards I’m swimming in, like Gul’dan’s Hand or something, because Malefic Rapture isn’t it.

My suggestion for this would be to have vile taint become an upgrade to seed of corruption. Remove the unique dot that VT has and maybe the cooldown since it costs soul shards anyway as a limiter, then have it blanket agony and corruption over an area, and then buff the baseline rapture to compensate for the loss of the unique dot on VT.

  1. Shadow has higher ease of spreading dots because their dots do far less damage than affi’s, and really only do so to activate psychic link.

  2. Your suggestion just turns seed into vile taint, which makes vile taint unusable, so that would need replacing.

Vile taint is fine at getting agony out, it just needs its CD dropped by 10 seconds.

Honestly, I wish it was just a target and drop like Phantom Singularity. I hate using ground targetting abilities.

make jinx and soul swap baseline without losing anything, also with no soul shard cost

I thought playing aff was already a misery mechanic , badum tss.

This was never needed before because most pve content was raids which focused on a few targets at a time – the boss and maybe some adds.

With m+ coming in the scene you frequently fight packs of enemies from 5-20 (maybe more !). An easy way to apply all your dots makes m+ much more enjoyable for dot classes.

Blizzard needs to make applying dots in m+ something that is fun. They need to cook on this imo.

Was just thinking the same thing. Weve had the misery mechanic the whole time

It’s available via Jinx for pvp, and it’s much appreciated there. With Hellcaller you get Curse of the Satyr, so in one instant cast you get Curse of Tongues, Curse of Weakness, Agony, and Wither.

The issue is Blizzard only cares about the top 1% of players. Since they all have tanks who know how to play with an Affliction lock, they’ll pull 3-4 groups together and work really hard to get them nice and compact for the Lock, so the Lock can just Seed+VT+SR and do 3 million DPS since they know the one thing Aff brings to Mythic+ a group is uncapped AOE potential.

The fact the other 99% of players have to deal with tanks who pull 1-2 groups and keeps at least half the mobs away from the other half resulting in an Afflock using a Soul Rot window on an average of like 3 mobs and thus put out about the same overall damage as the tank will not register with Blizzard as anything but a warlock skill issue.

/salt off.

Yeah, Blizz needs to stop focusing so much on the 1% of players and give the rest of us more love with our abilities and playstyles.
