I’m new to the class and I feel somewhat intimidated with the number of keybinds we have to press as part of our rotation, utility and defensives. Could you please share what keybinds you use?
Main abilities: Shadowbolt/Drain Soul, Corruption, UA, Agony, Siphon Life, Phantom Singularity, Soul Rot, Haunt, MR, Seed - 12345, alt+12345 - nice and easy to reach. Highly suggest learning either alt or ctlr bindings. Put less used abilities closer on 4/5 (Seed, PS, SR).
CD’s: Dark Soul, Darkglare, Spell Lock - Q,E, alt+QE - easy to reach, one row down, always feels good to press.
Extra buttons available: 6RTFG, alt+6RTFG, possibly gaming mouse buttons, scroll wheel if you can sacrifice zoom (page up/down works for me), F-keys (have them tied to raid functions, but CD’s work well). Use these for potion, pet summon, petactionbar4 (Devour Magic), Unending Resolve, Healthstone, CC, and maybe curses.
For PvE, you want your basic abilities closest to your resting fingers. Theoretically you can move WASD to ESDF for more real estate, but I don’t like it.
For PvP, you’re going to want to plan out focus macros and CCs. Make sure you can PvP trinket as well as Battlemaster/Int boost.
Make a plan and practice practice practice. A gaming mouse gives you access to 12 more buttons + modifiers, but you can really only fit so many on your bars. Just be able to hit the buttons you need to when you need them.

If starting, no shame in reducing the number of buttons to reach. Many guides suggest absolute corruption for m+. Don’t have to manage corruption & also takes away siphon life. So basically after dropping seed only need to apply agony to multiple targets. Seen some decent locks also use Dark Caller which takes away haunt & also syncs DSM & Darkglare so they can always be used together (can even be macro’d together for ease). Vile taint is also very useful in m+ & takes away PS. All these talent options are recommended by wowhead for m+, so not a big dps loss. Gradually as you learn can add more buttons situationally.

I made a cast sequence macro to help with my opener, and use a macro to pair all my cds together. Outside of that I just use things normally. 1234, f1 f2 f3 f4. Mouse buttons.

Good suggestions, but I would recommend using shift instead of ctrl. ctrl key binds are a bit awkward for the left hand alone to do (at least on most keyboards I’ve used).
Not sure how well it would work since I haven’t tried it, but you could also do a chorded setup since you can rotate the main bar without addons (with addons there are lots of things you can do).
It all depends on your setup
I use shift control and alt very easily but I don’t keybind like most traditional people do.
