I don’t know. Those playing it in mythics seem to be having a blast destroying the logs/meters.
or they are forced to play it. Seems to be far more cases of people being forced to play affliction than those who actually enjoy it. As far as i know, im literally the ONLY person on the forum who has stated they enjoy affliction.

i remember back when ppl told us shadow Priest that too. boy were they wrong lol. Just because you blast the meters doesn’t mean you are having a good time doing so.

I can honestly i tried to like playing aff and its just… not fun but if i play a spec and that spec wont be taken to raid/M+ so be it playing what I find fun… On a side note i dont take much stock in those posts from Wowhead about “what spec is good with a bar chart see” because if you look DEEPER at the data that is given. Look at locks for instance… Aff had 114824 parses Demo had 7818 parses and Destro had 23602 Parses… The ranges can be different with that amount of data given the ~107k differences in amounts of times that the top (aff) to the bottom (demo) were played. Not to mention that is on “All bosses” not just one. there can be an even GREATER range of those numbers when you look at each boss individually. Overall though yes Destro/Demo needs to be fixed and well aff keep trying one day it might be fun to play. but we already know Ion’s thoughts on demo is “we would rather you didnt play it” LOL

Top players will always play whatever hits harder, doesn’t matter how unfun it is.
Affliction main here, having a blast. I refused to swap destro last expansion and I recommend you do the same if you don’t like affliction. Play a spec you like.

If people truly hated Affliction then they wouldnt play it. There are other competitive ranged DPS specs for both Mythic CN and Mythic+ (Balance, Shadow, Fire, Marksman) So its not like Affliction Lock is the only ranged DPS spec doing well. So dont try and tell me that the 3300 Mythic Affliction Logs and the almost 300k Mythic + logs are simply playing Affliction cause they are “Forced” to. They could easily play Balance or Shadow or Marksman for a different playstyle and be just as competitive in CN or Fire Mage for Mythic+. The fact that people still play Affliction Lock means they enjoy it, because if they didnt then people would just play something else.

Thats not really a solution and this post in general isnt very helpful. Saying what you enjoy about aff and what you do not enjoy so much is more helpful.
i hate affliction but keep getting kicked from guilds for not playing it, they will play a spec they hate to be competative and try to get a spot in a raid team. and you say there are other specs but maw rep for sockets is not account wide. i would be over a month behind if i swapped now, countless hours of +40 rep at a time flushed
That’s actually a joke, the mechanics of aff lock make it impossible to be Tier 1 in M+. Raid is fine, the only reason it is good because it can put dots while moving. Warlock PVP now is a disaster. The thing is none of the 3 specs are good in PVP, what a Joke. Demo lock are the worst PVE PVP spec for 3 expansions. Demo lock only good for 2 weeks for M+ in BFA and quickly get nerfed.

Sure, there are other competitive classes/specs out there, but balance, fire, shadow, and MM being competitive does you no good at all if the class you want to play is warlock, in which case you are forced to play affliction or live with being subpar until blizzard gets around to fixing the other specs.
At the end of the day not everyone enjoys class/spec hopping to whatever character is the most powerful at the time, and for some people that isn’t even an option worth considering.
