Affliction bugs

Since the launch of the 12.0.5 patch we’ve gotten new bugs on Top of already existing bugs. Some of these are pretty debilitating to our performance.

  1. Nightfall does not increase drain soul damage as Hellcaller.
  2. Malefic Grasp partial dot ticks are not affected by Deaths Embrace.
  3. Malefic Grasp does not trigger wicked reaping for soul harvester.
  4. Xalan’s Cruelty does not buff our Apex, Wrath of Nathreas shadow damage.
  5. Fatal Echoes burns a stack of Shard Instability.
  6. Casting a seed followed a nightfall seed will overwrite the seed debuff on the main seed target, cutting damage drastically.
  7. Sataiel’s Volition is extremely buggy and randomly stops working in dungeons and new zone loads, requires spec swapping/reloading to fix.
  8. Tierset only increases your agony stack count by two if you have sudden onset, 3→5. If you do not have sudden onset, agony application starts at 1 stack, should be 3.
  9. Shared agony may stop working, looks like it is related to having curses on the target, closing the game appears to fix it.

Bugs 6 through 9 appear to be new with the patch. Very weird considering affliction has received no tuning all season. Yes, these are copied from the warlock affliction discord, but I don’t see them here on the forum and think it’s good to get this information out there.

It did get tuning at least twice. It also appears as if the tuning that was done may have been undone as of the patch. Damage feels like it dropped off by the amount it was buffed by weeks ago. Crazy amount of bugs in this patch…

I want to highlight #6.

I don’t think this is a new bug but was not properly vetted to determine if it was happening. Regardless, I consider this a design issue. The way seed works is that damage, time, or death results in seed explosion. If you are in the middle of a seed cast and you are spending shards in sequence, i.e. spamming, and you generate a nightfall, it can be very challenging to cancel your q’d spell. The result is that you just replace your seeds if targets in range are 3 or fewer. This is because 2 sets of seeds are fired at the same time and a target can only be embedded with 1 seed at a time. Prior to midnight, nightfall did not grant instant seed so this was not a concern. But as is, going from a cast into an instant does not provide enough time for the first seed to explode before overwriting since they are fired simultaneously. Unless there is a change in the design that allows these seeds to work simultaneously, I don’t consider this a “bug” in that sense of the word. It is instead classic munching behavior as a result of spell design.

The easiest fix is to make it so that targets can have more than one seed debuff simultaneously. But I am sure there are other options that the design team can take to fix this issue.

fixing the new bugs would be great, i am once again asking for a modest UA buff like the 12% PVP only buff two weeks ago. There should not be 3 total aff parses on mythic vanguard. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Lots of bugs, can you please adress them? We were the most undertuned spec in all the game and now being buggy isnt like optimal for having fun, you could buff unstable affliction bi 10-20% that will make pugs take us

announcing an price increase almost 40% for wow subscription and seeing this is really sad. I’ve been writing feedbacks for affl for seasons.

The actual iteration feels fun to play, but with the recent bugs is kinda unplayable, manually reapply one by one agony in m+ is unacceptable. UA actual tuning is horrible, it got hit since beta 70% twice in a row and never got properly tunned again.

With my experience how they deal with affliction in the past 2 expansions it probably only gonna be looked at in the new expansion. It’s really sad, when they made a good iteration for the spec they killed it with bad tunning and bugs, specially after announcing subscription price increase. I know there is inflation, but the value of the price increase is way higher than inflation itself .

What are the benefits that arrives with this increase? Will bugs be fixed faster? better servers?

On the topic of Jinx, OP didn’t list it but the known bug since launch, Jinx not working without Foul Mouth, has been fixed tonight. :smiley:

Dunno, shared agony works for me, but in context to specifically jinx it does not, with or without foul mouth, so only manually applying agony will aoe apply them.

bump for the affliction homies. i’d love them to polish this spec up a bit since it got a rework.

Was running a M+ earlier this morning and yeah Shared Agony is not spreading Agony to secondary targets. Went outside Silvermoon to test it on some creatures and it wasn’t spreading there, either. Came here and realized Aff is worse off with bugs than I thought.

Malefic Grasp will eat all stacks of nightfall on cast, not one. Not entirely sure if this is a bug or working as intended though.
