Afflicted is frustrating

Super frustrating to be healing a key and none of the DPS or tank are assisting with dispels.

The majority of keys I’ve done this week have involved that. I’ll even check to make sure they are able…. They just aren’t doing it. In the last I was healing everyone standing in the bad when two went off. The druid tank told me to cc them…. He apparently hadn’t noticed that he could’ve as well, or noticed the fact I had been dispelling one and healing the other.

Just leave. Same as old explosions. Sure, it’s best for healer to take them. But if you’re being put into a position where you need help but aren’t getting any it’s just not worth. It’s a team effort between 5 people.

I try to help with them as I can on my ret paladin. If the group runs their mouth about you missing them while you are healing the group with no one else helping, don’t say a word and just leave. It’s not worth wasting any more of your time or effort trying to talk to the group.

So much easier when someone helps. I’m just amazed when people don’t. I always make sure, when I’m in Shadow, to take my dispel so I can help. I haven’t decided if people don’t know or don’t care. Probably some combination of both.

Holy Word: Life one and dispel the other. If the dungeon has other dispels in it that you need to save for your teammates, simply hard cast heal the ghosts or also use Holy Word: Serenity. You can also use Holy Word: Sanctify to heal both if they are stacked and you’re not currently engaged in an AOE healing period.

Once you push higher keys your DPS and tanks will almost always instant dispel these things allowing you to keep your critical saving heals and dispels for when they are actually needed.

I do end up dispelling and healing during big pulls or intense fights as DPS and tanks will tend to tunnel vision. All good though, part of being a team player. It’s a really easy affix to deal with, albeit pretty annoying at times.

Something tells me you were doing a low key? If so, what do you expect. People are just bad at that level.

It was a 14. Relatively low but I thought at that point people would know.

14 is the new 5. We’ve come a long way from Shadowlands

Yeah I have been lucky so far this week. Seems like my dps and tanks have been competing to dispell them before me so I can save mine for when they need it.

My SP helps all the tim,ill tell healer to just heal

Afflicted’s greatest flaw at present is the limited pool of classes who can interact with the souls. Players lacking a dispel or healing can try to shoulder additional kicks or group stuns/stopcasts, but the affix has an extreme variation between haves and have-nots.

If players aren’t utilizing their tools, well, that isn’t ideal. At best case, they don’t know to make some talent changes. At worst, they’re hindering the group’s chances of success.

I don’t like how far apart the spawns can sometimes be, or how sometimes both will spawn right on top of one another…inside a pack of mobs being tanked. It can be pretty annoying. And it’s nice when you have a tank or dps being proactive and helping dispel. Especially when pulls get dicey.

Imo a well designed affix either allows everyone to interact together, or only personally. I think entangled is a good affix. Or bolstering, as frustrating as that can be sometimes. But I’m also not smart enough to know how such things would effect higher level play or if it’s just a personal preference.

But I also agree in that people should be using their kit in the situations presented.

One thing that can help groups is knowing that the souls obey line of sight. If it’s inconvenient to dispel, you can duck behind a corner or wall.

gotta expressly say outright " i need help with afflicted "
after that warning, if they dont. leave.
i agree its frustrating. i cant even help and thats the most frustrating part.

Affixes are the dumbest thing ever in WoW. I was banned off these forums numerous times for not wanting them. They do not involve skill. They involve punishment and annoyance. Clicking this or that random thing is not skill. I’d rather have more raids and dungeons and a couple of skill differences in those rather than 25 level keys and 4 raid modes, one which the majority of us aren’t cool enough to do. It was the same people who make the boss fights so overly complicated and a complete nerd fest. Same people who thought we needed a time gate behind flying. I think they do it because they know a lot of players don’t like them so the elitist nerds can feel that much more special about their gear. I see a lot of…ewww look how low level that guys gear is in DF. When they probably bought their gear or have zero clue how to play. It’s no just afflicted, it’s all affixes. I will never be ok with mechanics that are there only to slow someone down.

So there’s a weakaura that lets you see every class in the groups on group finder before you apply. If I don’t literally see 2 or 3 people other than me that have dispel potential, I don’t join. I know it sounds terrible, but if I see a warrior and hunter in a group waiting for the rest of th group, I don’t join. Not this week.

And yeah, just leave if people aren’t dispeling. You don’t owe anyone anything.

Do you mention in group, or do you just bottle it up, and come here to vent?

On my Shaman, whether I DPS or heal, I almost always lead in dispels on Afflicted. I watch dispels like a hawk and if someone that can do them isn’t, I make sure to let the group know that they aren’t doing it and that if they don’t start I won’t be asking again and the key will just end.

If you have people who can help and actively choose not to or say they’re won’t, then just leave the key. If they aren’t willing to do the affix then they don’t deserve to time (or finish) the key.
