Affix idea thread

Hey, I thought it would be cool if we pitched the devs some affix ideas that would fit in with the general theme they are going with.

1.) Remover
A ghost spawns and removes one random buff from the nearest party member. After 10 seconds, it removes a buff from the next party member, etc. Dispelling the ghost ends the mechanic. The ghost is very hard to see.

2.) Unequipper
A ghost spawns and unequips a random equipped item from the tank. Healing the ghost to full health ends the mechanic. CCing the ghost ends the mechanic. The ghost is very hard to see.

3.) Confusion
A ghost spawns and randomizes all keybinds of all players for 20 seconds. Opening a trade window with the ghost and giving it any junk from your bag ends the mechanic. The ghost is very hard to see.

4.) Sickness of Death
A ghost spawns and inflicts the Resurrection Sickness debuff to all dps. The mechanic is ended when either one of the DPS players die or the healer uses vanishing powder to remove one of their glyphs.

5.) Demise of the Lost
A ghost spawns and hides your car keys. This ghost must be healed to end the mechanic, but it is not targetable, so only AoE heals work for this. The ghost is very hard to see.

6.) You are not prepared!
A ghost spawns and flips the screen upside down and then reports you to the IRS. The mechanic is ended when any player summons a Battle Pet of at least level 10 that can be found in any Mists of Pandaria zone. Summoning a pet that doesn’t meet these qualifications instead bans all players from the party and automatically assigns them jury duty in their home state.

Also, when the ghost spawns, they will play an animation that lasts 20 times longer than it should before the mechanic actually starts. That way, players can’t handle the mechanic as soon as it clearly appears, instead, they have to wait for a while to engage the mechanic, but it shouldn’t be clear when it actually can be engaged. Also the ghost is very hard to see.

and how
[the mechanic can only be resolved by classes with particular utilities]
and how
[the mechanic globally affects the group despite the fact that not everyone can neutralize it]

?

How about just adapting to what is already out, rather than wasting more development time to affixes that people will still complain endlessly about.

Toss in some Diablo 4 nightmare key affixes.

idea for an affixx
hippity hoppity, get away from my property.
A GIANT toad spawns and hops to the party location ( chooses multiple players that are grouped ) once the toad lands, any player caught under the toad is instantly killed. if the toad lands and hits no one, it jumps towards a enemy that is engaged with the party. dealing massive aoe damage and stunning them for 1.4 seconds.

Bulls on parade
During a boss fight, several bulls will charge leaving dust clouds in there path. A gap in this wall of death will be your only survival. the dust clouds disorient any player. any player hit by the bulls are stunned for 1.5 seconds.

Fire chickens
randomly throughout the dungeon, large flaming roosters will spawn. they do a single cast that spawns several chicks to bombard the party. if interrupted, the chicken will give a HoT to the party.

Do you read stuff?

  • Radarless - Map in the corner is removed.
  • Paintball - Ranged attacks leave a paint splatter where they land.
  • Donkeykong - Characters and mobs all have really really big heads.
  • Silver - Weapons are all silver and do extra damage

Amog Us - Dreadlords are back and every X seconds in combat all friendly units are marked hostile and you all have to kill the right one to dispell the dreadlord or else you just kill an ally

These are pretty good but you forgot to involve a translucent ghost spawning

So it’s a problem that affix that replaced grievous can only be dealt with by classes with a heal spec?

the healer affix morphed into a different healer affix.

each pull gets a random affix combo each week.
