Aethas Sunwhiner

“If fate has brought Dalaran low twice, maybe it should not be rebuilt.”

Hey Metzen. Go watch Babylon 5.

Stop writing a cry session and write heroic fantasy. You used to be pretty good at it. Get back there.

ladies, find you a man that loves you the way Aethas Sunreaver loves Dalaran.

Toxic positivity ain’t gonna help if we’re just never allowed to have characters be sad

Agreed, every story is every character in the gaming being a weak and sorry apologist who is absolutely pathetic and dumb. Where’s the heroes and leaders that we grew up with in WarCraft who were all about action, kicking in doors, building empires, and crushing enemies?

Cuz if folks are sad now then the obvious next 2 games will have more “victories” and the pay off will be better.

Kinda obvious they’re just setting up story beats

I like how they were like “No more meddling for Dalaran!”. Buddy, we saved the world twice from that city.

Kind of a strange take away to be honest.

sadly, significant contingent on this forum that dislike when characters are fully fleshed out, complete characters with a range of emotions and motivations.

they would prefer them to be 1-note cardboard cutouts that just scream and grunt and fight.

bleh.

any time we get Story Content that isn’t just an Orc screaming Loktar Ogar, people complain.

THAT SAID…I do agree with the idea that Dalaran should be rebuilt, and continue to be so no matter how many times it takes. It’s become Warcraft’s “stuff is getting real” base of operations, and I like that legacy for it and wish for it to continue.

The conclusion that they should withdraw from the world seems a disconnected from the number of world-threatening events going on. Have they come to believe that by coming to the Isle, they actually made things worse? I don’t feel the story so far has presented anything to make me believe this.

Yea…

“stronghold that held off the Lich King, then the demonic invasion in Legion, as well as remaining a home and mostly neutral city for years”

Let’s just never rebuild it because it was toxic… LOL

I swear the people they hire as writers man… “you’re not your past”. It’s like watching a kaleidoscope of memes.

agreed, completely.

I think his new voice actor- not as good as the old one.

I’m not fond of Jaina just popping up and speaking to Aethas as if nothing happened between them, though.

Unless they hugged it out already and I missed it.

also, as if she didn’t ragequit the Kirin Tor because she lost a vote to allow the Sunreavers back into Dalaran. Not sure why she’s around on this one, tbh.

I did like running around doing mage stuff. Made me miss Legion’s class focus, until I remembered all of the ZugZugs and muggles are also off raising arcane shields and disarming mana bombs.

Did everyone join in at the end ceremony, or was that just for mages? They blew up my order hall. It had a cafe! I want something special.

I also liked the bit with Kel-Thuzad. I knew he was with the Kirin Tor in life, but I didn’t know he was on The Council of Six.

I think he’s trying to buy her a gift from the trading post. So I’m guessing they hashed some things out off camera.

I’m gonna need therapy irl if I listen to another character sulk around

He sure had more mojo when the big thing was nuking Theramore. The problem is less about having cardboard cutouts, than bipolar tools. At least that failure of a character was my bit… sla… damn, combat pet in Legion.

It’s been a long and traumatizing few years. I don’t know if I can trace a whole narrative thread fo their reconciliation, but their interactions didn’t feel unnatural to me is this questline.

The irony of calling Aethas “Sunwhiner” by whining on the forums is hysterical.

well you 2 have more in common then you think.
