Aesthetics are the only reason I’m not an evoker main

Evoker is such a fun class, it’s the only class in the game that I can enjoy each spec. But I cannot stand the appearance of the dracthyr. They just look goofy.

I’m aware that this topic has been beaten to death but that dead horse has it coming! There are at least two solutions to this too. Letting us wear our transmog in dracthyr form (at the very least our tier pieces), and letting us play in visage form. Side note, lore wise isn’t there basically no reason we can’t play as any “race”? I mean dragons can pick any race as their visage, so why can’t we choose to play as a Tauren evoker or night elf evoker or dark iron evoker? Let that race be our visage but lore wise we’d be a dracthyr and fight in dracythr form (by default, id still like to be able to play in visage form).

Yes, there is. I forget where in the questline but nozdormu specifically mentions that there is some barrier that causes our visage option to be what it currently is. I’m sure someone that pays attention to these things can course -correct me and give a more detailed explanation.

I mean this is a big part of it–we’re not dragons.

I personally don’t care what they do in terms of what forms are playable, but thereare actually reasons given why we cannot.

I feel similarly. Evoker is my favorite caster hands down and I’d be playing one right now if I either liked the Dracthyr model more, or if we had the choice to play in humanoid visage.

I wish we could just pop in and out of Dracthyr-form when we’re casting spells that sort of require it, like Deep Breath. Other spells like Disintegrate could just use the basic casting animation, and Fire Breath could just copy the Mage animation from Dragon’s Breath. It’s not a perfect or ideal fix, but I’d be impossibly thrilled if something like that ever went live.

That being said, I sincerely doubt we’ll ever get a change on this. Blizzard was really pushing us to be excited how much customization you get for Dracthyr in DF and they probably want to continue to make us use the Dracthyr model. Glyph of Shadow (reduces visual effects on Shadowform for Shadow Priest) was around for like, a literal decade, before Blizzard buffed the effect so you could finally just see your transmog through Shadowform. I doubt any such care will be given to Evoker anytime soon.

Im certain they will give us new visage forms.
Im certain they will give us transmog option.
Im certain they will not allow combat in visage

I’m an evoker main despite the aesthetics. The particle effects are good and the gameplay is fun, but my interest in the dragon form waxes and wanes. Sometimes i’d rather just be in my humanoid form in combat, and sometimes using a toy to take up less screen real estate is nice, but it’d also be nice if i could just be me.

There was a combination of items that allowed me to do this, but one of them was removed for no reason when the pre-patch hit.

Sometimes i think the dragon looks nice and graceful in combat, and other times it’s like “ugh i don’t wanna look at you anymore”.

Non-evoker dracthyr will be able to choose whether they want to be full-time humanoid or dragon in the future. I’d like a little bit of love put into evoker as well for when that time comes. Maybe while they work out the combat animations for the dragon form for other classes they can give the visage some animations for evoker spells.

Wishful thinking, but probably won’t happen.

Because we are not Race X with a dragon form…
we are a Dragon with a visage form.

And Lorewise Cindre and Azurathel talk about how the Dracthyr visage differs from normal “True” dragon Visages

Don’t listen to most players on here who have started a religion around this class.

The honest answer is Blizzard does not want to or has not had the time to do so.

Either would work. Once again, it’s a Blizzard thing and not a lore thing as some may suggest. Keep in mind that before Dragonflight there was no dracthyr “lore.”

It was, and I dare say this since it might offend some people, made/created for the class.

This is not a 100% true.

I believe this is what is mentioned but it is left ambiguous for some odd reason. As if Blizzard is giving themselves a way out if they wanted.

Blizzard can do whatever they want. If enough players keep asking for it, then you might get it. Granted, this will not be a fast thing. Just don’t let “those” people tell you what can’t or cannot be done. Just keep at it.

  • My fingers are crossed after they allow Dracthyr to be playable for most classes post launch that they will add mogs to the race, or perma visage form for evokers.

You can already cast living flame in combat without losing visage form.

It would be pretty trivial to just allow us to transform back to visage in combat if we haven’t used a dragon-required ability for a few seconds, say 3-5 seconds. I would love how it would look to pop into dragon form to cast something quick like tail whip and pop back into visage personally.

Just a matter of making it make sense and not having it transform back n forth too often and be annoying. That and only allow the health regen buff work out of combat.

Honestly wish worgens could have this option too and be inspired by Greymane from heroes of the storm. Where his dives into melee transforming into worgen form while diving and using melee then rolls out of melee back into human form for ranged attacks. It’s just cool.

Would only really work for like, druids and survival hunters and maybe outlaw rogues lol

True Evoker mains always carry Atmoic Recalibrator, Noggen Fogger, Deviate Delight, and Blubbery Muffin. I almost never look at my Dracthyr form unless I’m in an arena

Honestly ive gotten used to the dracthyr form so i dont mind it as much. Though i would love for them to get some model tweaks to be more in line with how they look in the artwork and trailers. The current model just misses the mark the wow dragon style and has a really choppy run animation.

My biggest pet peeve is the mog situation.
I have yet to find a mog set that doesnt look really weird on the drac form. Would prefer if i could just mog my visage to whatever and have my drac just use the barber shop armor.

They also need access to emberthals scale and armor color but that is a whole 'nother can of wyrms…

speaking of the recalibrator, whats your go to race when using it? i see alot of vulpera and dwarves. i usually go for either of those 2 or blood elf

Honestly just depends what I feel like for that super long cd, I mostly either just go with Kul Tiran, Goblin, Tauren, or rarely Undead

But realistically I get stuck as Vulpera most of the time because the toy despawns…

you get vulpera that often? me n friends as a joke decided to see how long it would take us to get that and it took the entire time before it despawned to get a vulpera

I swear Blizzard just has it out for me that as soon as the toy is about to despawn it gives me Vulpera and I hate it lol

this is hilarious. when i run keys with friends the tank wants to be a vulpera so is a game of how many times it takes for him to get it. the other dragon has so many different shape shifting toys that were almost never our form in keys with most of the time being a different pet

I was thinking today that I would love a “between” form. My visage (with transmogs) but keep my scales, horns, wings and tail. And maybe claws.

I’d use these if they just made Hover look like Levitate when in a different form.

I hate the janky appearance of hover while not in drachtyr form.

TBH i would love to keep my tail in visage form
