Vanilla: Dire Maul
I loved the scale and how it was this ancient ruin of Elven arrogance brought low and destroyed by ogres. The gladiator ring in the center and the gorgeous architecture and the trees…and the secret locked library. I just never got tired of it. I found the entire thing very peaceful and nice to be in.
Burning Crusade: Magister’s Terrace
I thought Blood Elf architecture, which was new to us at the time, was gorgeous. We played Alliance that entire expansion, so I never got overloaded on the Belf aesthetic. I loved going in there.
Wrath of the Lich King: Utgarde Keep
Like the Belf architecture in BC, I loved the Vrykul buildings and the whole viking them of huge wooden stairs and roaring fireplaces, etc. I loved going into Utgarde and the atmosphere of it. I enjoyed the Titan ones, too, but if I had to pick a favorite…Utgarde Keep.
Cataclysm: Zul’Aman
It felt, at the time, when the expansion was current, like going back to ZG for me. I loved everything about ZA, and the looks of it were no exception.
Mists of Pandaria: Stormstout Brewery
I still giggle when I’m leveling an alt and do a run through there. Alementals…hee hee. Giant angry rabbit bosses. Vulgar monkey bosses. I love the whole thing.
Warlords of Draenor: Auchindoun
I never played this expansion when it was current, and that makes me sad because despite how much people seemed to reject it–the missing content and the problems it had–it was beautiful. The first time I went to Auchindoun on an alt, I was SO excited to see the place that I’d only ever seen in ruins during BC. It didn’t disappoint. I love how grand it was and how pretty everything in there was. Gorgeous.
Legion: Halls of Valor
Hands down, the most beautiful one to my mind. I loved how much Norse mythology they nodded to in that one dungeon. Made me smile, and the Rainbow Bridge still makes me happy when I go in there.
Battle for Azeroth: Underrot
I know a lot of people hate that dungeon, but it is SO beautiful to me. The red and white set against each other with all the motes flying around…omg, I love it. I think it’s so gorgeous. It’s definitely how drenched everything is in white and red, but it’s soothing to me. If you can overlook the disgusting denizens of the dungeon and just look at the place itself, I find it stunning to look at. /shrug
