Aesthetically, what is your favorite dungeon from each expansion?

Just looks and music wise, not taking frustrating layouts or mechanics into account. Also, dungeons, not raids.

For me its:

Vanilla: Gnomeragan. I know this instance sucks to run, but I love gnomes and gnomish tech, and I really like the idea of their city.

BC: The Botanica. Giant floating spaceship greenhouse. Its the best of the spaceships we’ve seen imo.

WotLK: Ahn’kahet. I love Azjol-Nerub and just wish we got to see more of it.

Cata: The Vortex Pinnacle. Absolutely beautiful, and I wish Skywall had been more of a presence in Cata.

MoP: Shado-Pan Monastery. A hidden monastery atop snowcapped mountains. I really like that place.

WoD: Auchindoun. Looks and music wise, probably one of my overall favorite instances.

Legion: Maw of Souls, pretty much entirely for the part where you’re on the deck of the ship in a heavy storm.

BfA: Waycrest Manor, I love basically everything about the design and music of this place.

Vanilla: Sunken Temple, oh my goodness what a dungeon. Probably my favorite ever, although Dire Maul is really close.

BC: I also enjoyed Botanica, and I’d say that Magister’s Terrace was up there too.

Wrath: Had to think about this one for a bit. Culling of Stratholme is probably my favorite, although the end of Halls of Reflection is really cool.

Cata: Well of Eternity has some really nice visuals.

MoP: Shado-Pan Monastery, although I also liked Stormstout Brewery.

WoD: Didn’t play this expansion much, so I don’t have an opinion.

Legion: There’s a bunch of good ones here. Upper and Lower Kara, Darkheart Thicket, and Cathedral of Eternal Night are all excellent.

BfA: Waycrest Manor really sticks out. I’m also fond of Freehold.

Vanilla: SFK.
BC: What dungeons?
Wrath: Halls of Reflection
Cata: Vortex Pinnacle
MoP: Gate of the Setting Sun
WoD: Shadowmoon Burial Grounds
Legion: Maw of Souls
BfA: Waycrest Manor

Classic: Wailing Caverns. I like that it feels like a literal dungeon cave.
BC: Magisters Terrace. Love the belf stuff.
WOTLK: Halls of Lightning.
CATA: Tough one, but i’d go with Halls of Origination, but the end time dungeons were incredible too.
MOP: Temple of the Jade Serpent
WOD: Auchindoun
Legion: Another tough one, probably Vault of the Wardens.
BFA: Temple of Sethraliss

I don’t know about listing all those, but there are 2 that stand out for me personally:

Utgarde Keep - For whatever reason, it blew my mind the first time I actually looked up in the dragon pen room…

Court of Stars - Suramar wasgorgeous in general, so it’s probably cheating to just drop a dungeon in there.

vanilla: BRD

BC: botanica

WOLK: COT

Cata: grim batol

Mist: stormstout Bewery

WOD: grimrail depot

Legion: vault of the wardens I guess. Honestly no legion dungeon is memorable.

BFA: Atal’Dazar.

which one is the best of all time? BRD, no contest.

Classic: Stratholme. Because I’m edgy like that.
TBC: Shadow Labyrinth. Because I’m edgy like that.
WotLK: Stratholme. Because I’m edgy like that.
Cata: End Time. Because I’m edgy like that.
MoP: Stormstout Brewery. PEPPERS! Also, there aren’t any edgy dugeons in MoP :frowning: .
WoD: Grimrail Depot. Arguably the most unique dungeon ever.
Legion: Too-much-edge-everywhere. It’s overwhelming.
BfA: Waycrest Manor. Because I’m edgy like that.

Vanilla: Scarlet Monastery. Yeah, yeah typical but I just love it and the Scarlet Crusade okay?

BC: The Shattered Halls. It looks awesome imo, feels like an area you would see the elite of the elite of this Fel Orc Clan in.

WotLK: Trial of the Champion. I’m a sucker for Arenas so this dungeon was right up my alley.

Cataclysm: End Time. I’m also a sucker for alt-history so this place was a huge playfield for me. I really enjoyed the unique design of each boss room too.

MoP: Temple of the Jade Serpent. Not much to say on this one, other than it just looks nice, and the Library part is amazing.

WoD: Grimrail Depot. Very unique style for a dungeon, and I absolutely loved how it looked.

Legion: I didn’t really play Legion so I don’t have opinion.

BFA: Waycrest Manor. It’s just incredible, the design is on point, the music is on point, the mob design and boss design is on point. Honestly Waycrest Manor is aesthetically my favorite dungeon in the entire game. It just looks and feels incredible.

Vanilla: Dire Maul
I loved the scale and how it was this ancient ruin of Elven arrogance brought low and destroyed by ogres. The gladiator ring in the center and the gorgeous architecture and the trees…and the secret locked library. I just never got tired of it. I found the entire thing very peaceful and nice to be in.

Burning Crusade: Magister’s Terrace
I thought Blood Elf architecture, which was new to us at the time, was gorgeous. We played Alliance that entire expansion, so I never got overloaded on the Belf aesthetic. I loved going in there.

Wrath of the Lich King: Utgarde Keep
Like the Belf architecture in BC, I loved the Vrykul buildings and the whole viking them of huge wooden stairs and roaring fireplaces, etc. I loved going into Utgarde and the atmosphere of it. I enjoyed the Titan ones, too, but if I had to pick a favorite…Utgarde Keep.

Cataclysm: Zul’Aman
It felt, at the time, when the expansion was current, like going back to ZG for me. I loved everything about ZA, and the looks of it were no exception.

Mists of Pandaria: Stormstout Brewery
I still giggle when I’m leveling an alt and do a run through there. Alementals…hee hee. Giant angry rabbit bosses. Vulgar monkey bosses. I love the whole thing.

Warlords of Draenor: Auchindoun
I never played this expansion when it was current, and that makes me sad because despite how much people seemed to reject it–the missing content and the problems it had–it was beautiful. The first time I went to Auchindoun on an alt, I was SO excited to see the place that I’d only ever seen in ruins during BC. It didn’t disappoint. I love how grand it was and how pretty everything in there was. Gorgeous.

Legion: Halls of Valor
Hands down, the most beautiful one to my mind. I loved how much Norse mythology they nodded to in that one dungeon. Made me smile, and the Rainbow Bridge still makes me happy when I go in there.

Battle for Azeroth: Underrot
I know a lot of people hate that dungeon, but it is SO beautiful to me. The red and white set against each other with all the motes flying around…omg, I love it. I think it’s so gorgeous. It’s definitely how drenched everything is in white and red, but it’s soothing to me. If you can overlook the disgusting denizens of the dungeon and just look at the place itself, I find it stunning to look at. /shrug

Vanilla - Scarlet Monastery
TBC - (dont like any of them aesthetically)
Wrath - Forge of Souls
Cata - Halls of Origination
MoP - Scarlet Monastery
Wod - Auchindoun
Legion - (tough one) Halls of Valor /Maw of souls
BFA - Waycrest

Vanilla: Blackfathom Deeps

TBC: Really hard to say, all dungeons looked kinda same-y. I guess I’ll go with Underbog

Wrath: Drak’Tharon Keep

Cata: Throne of Tides

MoP: Really hard one because imo all instances were gorgeous. I’ll go with Stormsout Brevery.

WoD: Grimrail Depot - fight on fast moving locomotive. I’m in. But Everbloom is very good looking too.

Legion: I wasn’t that big fan of those, I guess I’ll go with Maw of Souls, I like the spooky ship on storm visual. Court of Stars was pretty fun too but I didn’t enjoy to be morphed to elf.

WoD: King’s Rest and Atal’Dazar. Just beautiful.

Vanilla: SM, mainly Arm or Cath

BC: HFC, probably Shattered Halls or Ramps

Wrath: Gundrak, the only good troll dungeon

Cata: Stonecore, Deepholm is one of my favourite zones in the entire game

Pandaland: Stormstout Brewery, it was just completely different to any other dungeon

Warlords: GRIMRAIL, amazing looking even if terrible dungeon

Legion: Maw of Souls, also the most fun dungeon as well as best looking

BFA: Freehold, it’s probably the most lively of all the dungeons

Classic - Blackrock Depths

TBC - didn’t really care for any of 'em… um… Blood Furnace 'cuz of Magtheridon’s dialogue

Wrath - Utgarde Keep/Pinnacle

Cata - Vortex Pinnacle

Pandaria - Stormstout Brewery

Draenor - Grimrail Depot

Legion - Halls of Valor

BFA - King’s Rest

Classic: Stratholme - so lore heavy, was cool to actually be in the place we destroyed in WC3

TBC: Durnholde Keep - also lore heavy, and I love how you can take a detour away from the main dungeon objectives and go witness some neat things in the town nearby. I also liked the whole interference of the infinite flight; wish they spent more meaningful time on that plot line.

Wrath: Hall of Reflection - there’s something awesome about running from the LK before you’re strong enough to face him a raid group. I imagine for many players it was the only showdown with him if they didn’t get lucky enough to find an accepting PuG leader.

Cataclysm: Honestly, I didn’t really have a favourite… they were all kinda the same to me. Difficulty was a nice change, so I’d go with Stonecore for how efficient it was. Halls of Origination was good for its lore but it was absolute slog.

Mop + Wod: Didn’t play either xpac, quit during this time

Legion: Maw of Souls, very unique experience imo.

BfA: Siege of Boralus – I like dungeons that take place in places where we spend a lot of time, but with a switch! I also like its pacing. The gogogo attitude actually makes sense here because, hello, the city is being attacked!

Classic - Deadmines
TBC - Magister’s Terrace
Wrath - Pit of Saron
Cata - Deadmines
Pandaria - Scholomance
Draenor - UBRS
Legion - Karazhan
BFA - Freehold

Classic: Deadmines (I’m boring)

BC: Ramparts (Can’t think of many others)

Wrath: Past of Stratholme (That was incredible)

Cata: Grim Batol (Dwarves deserve some love)

MoP: Shado-Pan Monastery (I think this is the only MoP dungeon I didn’t dislike)

WoD: Shadowmoon Burial Grounds (Just a good dungeon)

Legion: Halls of Valor (Actually my favourite all time dungeon)

BFA: Motherloade (Return to Kezan)

Well I like most dungeons but I’ll tell you what I like the least having just leveled an allied character for heritage
Classic: dire maul, the ogre side. Too much running especially the last part
BC: Escape from Durnholde, just boring
Woltk: Culling of Stralholme, long run in
Cata: Grim Batol. Should let us mount up
MOP: Siege of Niuzao, again a lot of waiting especially second boss.
WOD: I agree it’s unique but too many wipes here.
Legion: Darkheart thicket. Eerie and gives me the creeps
BFA: Tol dagor. Well designed as a cramped jail but irritated by Los and camera zoom

BRD forever.

Vanilla(Not an expansion): Shadowfang Keep
Burning Crusade: Shadow Labs
Wrath of the Lich King: Halls of Lightning
Cataclysm: End Time
Mists of Pandaria: Jade Temple
Warlords of Draenor: Grimrail Depot
Legion: Black Rook Hold
Battle for Azeroth: Siege of Boralus
