Aerial Hault Feedback

This isn’t really a bug, just how the ability works. When you use Aerial Halt, it doesn’t just reduce the number that is your speed. What it actually does is counters your momentum by pushing your mount backwards. If you hit the ability too early, fine, you float to the ground. If you hit it too late, not really horrible, you smash into the ground, usually no harm done. If you mistime this ability, what happens is you ricochet off of the ground. This needs to be redesigned.

Why are you using it to land? It’s meant to stop your momentum in the air.

I try to use it before landing, but if I’m going really, really fast, I don’t time it well and I get launched high up into the air after hitting the ground. Nobody wants to use this thing high in the air and then slowly fall to the ground like a gentle butterfly. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

It’s meant to use when you’re flying around and go “oh herb!” You hit it, then point down and land. You don’t use it to land. It’s not meant for landing like that. It’s to slow you in the air so that you can slow down to land where you want after.

It shouldn’t launch you backwards. It should just slow you down.

You aren’t “launched backwards” in the air. You are slowed down. The mount does the same thing a horse does when stops short and rears up. The illusion of you going backwards may be a thing, because of the speed you were going. But all it does is rear itself up and shove its wings forward.

Think of a hawk in midair when it beats its wings to slow itself.
