Ive been playing this game on and off for a while but ive never truly connected with a class so far. Ive always loved healing in every game I play, but in wow. I enjoy healing in pvp and dungeons but get anxiety when I heal in raids. However when I am not doing group content I get bored because I dont like doing world content as a healer.
You could say “just switch to a dps spec” but i truly dont like any of the dps specs you can be for the classes that have healer.
I really love Warlock, Mage and Hunter but I have no clue what to pick, I would love them for world content, however the same thing is happening again where I have this itch to want to heal in pvp and dungeons but, warlock, mage or hunter dont have a healing spec.
what can i do? i hope this makes sense
Why do you like Warlock, Mage and Hunter? How do you feel about Druids? If you enjoy healing, that may be a good option to try. Especially if you enjoy healing in PvP, Resto druids are so obnoxious to kill, lol.
Then for world content, you have two DPS specs to choose from. And even a tank spec if you ever wanted to delve into tanking. Same could be said for Paladins. Though if you aren’t fond of any DPS specs for classes that can heal…
May try Resto Shaman, Holy Paladin or Disc Priest who can all do more than enough damage for world content while being solid healers for PvP and Dungeons(though Disc is harder due to its nature). That’s what I’d do at least if I loved healing and disliked all the DPS specs, lol.
Best solution for anyone who can’t decide what class/spec to play is Druid. They can literally play every role and play them decent.
To answer your question though. Hunter and Warlock have higher survivability than mages, but IMO, hunters can potentially do more DPS damage and mages are more fun.

Play priest. You have shadow for DPS, holy for heals, and disc if you enjoy masochism!
Have you played Monk?
Mistweaver has some of the nicest casual friendly builds, but also some crazy high action builds. It’s really welcoming to those newer to the role, with a high skill ceiling now. Plus, for raids, you can zoom around while hitting Essence font and get big numbers.
Also Mistweaver can do pretty well for itself in open world, having a decent amount of the windwalker DPS abilities.
If you’ve tried every healer class, including above, and don’t enjoy them and are sticking to those 3, then it depends what content you like to do.
- If it’s solo stuff, then Hunter. Also great for casual play (beast master) as its able to do everything while moving. Marks and Surv give fun variation
- If it’s Big damage, then probably mage. For M+ and raids, they’re straight up “fire” these days.
- If you want to be pretty good at both of these, then Warlock sort of sits as a good middle ground. You’re not going to be the best damage but it’s still really god. Plus the’re just silly in PvP
I’ve always felt a deeper connection or drive to play my toons if they have a backstory.
Just make one for a toon you want to play.
Sounds strange, but hey it’s fun.

Shaman is another option. Elemental feels more like a real mage than the actual mage and you can switch to healing spec when you want. Shaman is very fun with lots of utility spells.
You didn’t mention tanking; how about that? Most fun role imo
Boomkin with t3 talent in restoration. You can DPS and occasionally save the day with a few heals. You just want to make sure you set up your moonfire or sunfire to be macro’d that it changes you back to boomkin after you cast one of those day saving heals.
Also if you only do LFR or even a bit of normals, resto druid with DPS t3 talent is a fun way to not be bored while healing. With all the passive heals and HoT’s you only really need to spend 1/2 your time actually healing.

Just wanted to double check this. Like all 6 different specs? (Including mine! D: Retribution Paladins are the best)
I agree with BlueBulls and would go Boomkin. You get a whole healing toolkit since druids are utility kings.
Alternatively, you can probably make a hunter with a spirit pet. You can choose to help out with sprit mend offheals.
