What’s a good build for Mythic+?

I’d start with the cookie cutter spirit bomb build, but also keep in mind to try different combos.
I use felblade, which some places tell you not to, but the extra ability I can do while not waiting on pain to generate is worth it to me.
Also, there are different setups using gluttony for survival.
The last talent row can be mixed up depending on affixes and play style.
Last resort is a good fail-safe, but reaver and barrier are good on given weeks, and according to play style.
(Edit) - Also, essences can play a large part into what build you may want/need for a given week also.
For example, Fortified, Bursting, Grievous weeks… Spirit bomb / Anima essence will shine because of the outright healing and damage.
Whereas, crappy affix combos will have me leaning toward Undying / Visions essence with gluttony talented for the Meta up time.
That extra armor and heals will make a world of difference when you have Fort/Teeming/Necro weeks and you get smashed by trash.
I use blind fury, IA, ToR (because I have talents in azurite perks for it), SR, FB, UP and Demonic, haven’t had any issues at all in mythic+ with this build.
That depends on if the week is Fortified or Tyrannical.
ST (Tyrannical):
Talents: Felblade, Demon Blades, Trail of Ruin, (Your Choice), First Blood, (Your Choice, I prefer Master of the Glaive for this setup), Demonic.
Traits: Chaotic Transformation X1, Furious Gaze X3, Revolving Blades X1, and an optional sixth choice that varies on simming.
Essences: Condensed Life Force R2+, Crucible R3, Lucid R2+.
AOE (Fortified):
Demonic Appetite, Immolation Aura, Trail of Ruin, Soul Rending (Definitely coexists with DA), First Blood, Unleashed Power (For Souls), Demonic.
Traits: Eyes of Rage X1/2, Furious Gaze X3, Revolving Blades X1. Please look at Dungeon Slice when simming.
Essences: Essence of the Focusing Iris of any rank as Major (but higher is better), Purification Protocol R3 either as Major or Minor (Major for Execute RNG), and a third choice based on simming.
Hope this helps, it does for me. I recommend Raidbots or AskMrRobot for simming, depending on if you also plan on tanking.
Assuming we are talking DPS
Even in tyrannical I would argue the Demonic Appetite build is better for mythic+, you are still spending half your time or more usually on trash.
I do swap my essences a bit, and generally use the below, though it might vary a bit by dungeon depending on the trash (Traits I usually leave the same except on heavy damage weeks where I use an absorb set)
It depends on what rank they are a bit, use bloodmallet for the best data IMO
Tyranical Essence’s = Condenced LF -> Crucible (Minor) -> *Memory of Lucid Dreams(Minor)
*My conflict and strife is pretty low
Fortified weeks = Focusing Iris -> Purification Protocol -> Crucible (Minor)
As Ammathostus said, sim’ing is the best as you may not always have ideal AZ Traits or Essence ranks, and using dungeon slice. I just feel that at least through 15 keys, the single target loss by using the standard build vs a slight single target DPS increase with the single target build generally isn’t worth it as there is still a lot of trash to kill, though group makeup may change that a bit.
