Just wondering, I already know not to do caves, but i’m uncertain as to the rest of it.
Try to out level your quests and mobs by 1-3 levels. Makes it much safer.
Later on bounce zones like mad to make that possible.
Kill most stuff in your path for the hell of it.
caves are fine. just always leave yourself an exit. pay attention if someone was in there recently and if they killed quickly or not. respawns is what will kill you.
zoom out and be aware of your surroundings at all times (you can increase max zoom in interface options).
keybind everything and use them often even if you dont need it (muscle memory) … obviously dont use big big cds if you are somewhere dangerous just for muscle memory
alchemy is good
cooking is also good even tho food buffs are annoyingly short
hunter or priest are probably the easiest for first timers. mage can be pretty forgiving too.
im going to have to agree on the no cave thing. its not so much that caves are too hard, they are usually more challenging, but … when you throw other people’s poor decisions on top of that, and then add in blizzard’s infamous server stability … caves are definitely something I am going to be avoiding most of the time, especially after lvl 15 or so.
I’m not sure I’d agree with you on the mage part, cause people might be temped to try to aoe grind.
Stick to killing green mobs and doing green quests whenever possible.
If you don’t have any bag drops within the first 7-10 lvls, just bite the bullet and buy them, they’ll pay for themselves very quickly.
Don’t get greedy, chances are that treasure chest doesn’t have anything worth the risk of dying, you’d be better served fishing up trunks instead.
If things look like they’re about to go sideways, do NOT hesitate to run, in hardcore the cowardly way is usually the way to succeed.
DO take up all the secondary professions (fishing, cooking, first aid) and DO take the time to work on them at the same time you’re leveling.
It’s up to you to decide what primary professions you want, but bear in mind that you’ll likely need to take up a gathering profession to provide mats for a crafting profession.
Try to do ALL the quests (so long as they’re green) in a zone before moving on to the next higher level range zone - be prepared to do a bit of continent hopping to complete all quests that are green to you.
If you plan to do dungeons, it’s generally safest to do them at the highest level you can be before you over-level it, resist the urge to enter the dungeon at the minimum required level.
Hold onto every quest reward consumable, as they can help you out many levels later when you find yourself in a really sticky situation. Bag of Marbles have saved my behind numerous times, and Light of Elune is a very powerful item that can save your life even at level 60 (just don’t try to ‘bubble hearth’ with it, as that’s akin to a pally bubble hearth)
This is only true if you’re playing by the addon rules, Blizzard has said nothing about preventing hearthing while using Light of Elune.
Well, I imagine people will test it.
