Advice for Paladins!

You mean like Avenger’s Shield and Hammer of the Righteous? Those things we don’t have in Vanilla?

Yeah. You don’t have any moves as a Paladin beyond Seals, Judgement and Consecrate. And no, I’m not including Holy Shock or Exorcism. One is utterly weak garbage til you’re a well geared 60 and the other is undead/demon specific.

I’m getting the feeling you didn’t play a Paladin back then…

No.

I still don’t get the 10char thing. Perhaps because I find that replying should include some form of expression beyond a two or three letter word?

Also:

No “thank you”.

This. Holy paladins are fine.

Count your prot abilities again.

Don’t forget consecration.

Then compare to the amount of abilities you can use in a rotation vs others.

I’m starting to think you didn’t even play vanilla.

Wait! /pulls off OP’s mask…

He was a Shaman the whole time!
…and a Troll one at that

Really? To level? Enjoy that.

Surely you aren’t talking about Holy Shield? Really?! sigh And I DID mention Consecration multiple times. But that’s if you talent it from Holy.

Oh wow, you’re right! One more button you can press in a rotation! Totally saves the class right there.

You may believe what you wish, but I want to see you post back here explaining how thrilling it is to level and solo play a Paladin when Classic is released.

sigh Much cleverness, very insightful.

very funny.

Holy Paladins are a lot of fun to play. Unlike greedy ret paladins that only tend to care about dps and self preservation, Holy gets to use all of their utility on the group. PvP and 5 mans are a blast. Raids can be dull, but that’s true for most classes. In 5 mans and PvP I do everything that a ret paladin does on top of healing.

Hmmmmmmm…

Ah, there it is.

If you level and/or do everything in a group I’m sure you’ll have a decent time. Especially if it is with friends and people you like!

How the class feels in terms of excitement isn’t the argument, that’s irrelevant, you could play the class with the most buttons on the whole wide world and be bored of the class.

Your argument is you had no abilities to press, which you do, I understand you don’t have holy shield…no one said you did.

You have just as many abilities as other melee.

If the class is boring is irrelevant.

I will be a priest, I get to smite and wand to 40 but that’s what gets me off so to me it’s fun.

Then at 40 I get to stay in shadow form and mind blast and swp then wand to 60!! So many abilities.

Kinda proves my point about ret only caring about themselves. But if we are talking about solo play though Holy, or Holy/Prot which is what I actually play, isn’t much different than ret. I use a 1h/shield, you use a 2h. As far as playstyle we both pretty much do the same thing, I’m just far more survivable and fight hordes of mobs as opposed to just a handful of mobs at a time.

Cut!

No, that’s not your line…you say
/checks script: ‘and I would’ve gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you meddling kids’

Try it again…aaaaaand ‘Action’

I’ll stop quoting my first post as it isn’t taking. You have several abilities to press as a Paladin, just that none of them are an instant strike style attack.

Prot has Holy Shield… -_-

… I don’t even know what to say.

Good for you! I truly hope you have tons of fun!

Yah, that’s kinda my point. Skjaldbjorn, I’ve seen you post your views before, and I wouldn’t want to invalidate that. You have your style, and as I said in my OP, go for it! I just wanted to put this kind of message out for those who were thinking of rolling Paladin thinking it would be something it is not.

Which isn’t anything like it is in Retail or even most other games. That is it.

@Impervious: Are you waiting on a game to download too?

Meant Templars verdict.

This pointless argument has ruined all of my senses

Don’t play a paladin.

As someone who had over 100 days /played on a paladin during vanilla, who also cleared every raid during that time and did massive amounts of pvping, paladin is not worth it.

Ret: You are not a real dps (though the seal of the casino RNG gods could bless at times)
Prot: You are not a real tank
Holy: You are a mana battery that spams low to medium heals to keep the raid topped off, while other healers drop the big heals for chunk damage. Yes, hpals could have decently high HPS, but it wasn’t life saving HPS, it was just raid healing topping people off that were below 80% hp.

I can say that hpal pvp was pretty good though if you had a good team to asspony around.

I agree with all but holy.

You are the best tank healer in the game.

Confirmed not a Shaman.

Wanted to chime in on just this point, as people often look at the past through the lens of today. How good does it feel to save another players life with your heals? Pretty good right? How good does it feel to never get that feeling, but simply get by because your HPS are good enough to please the raid/guild leadership?

It is unfulfilling.

Thank you for sharing your experience Dauntless.

not all of em are instants and they all have cds but
exorcism vs demon / undead
holy wrath cs demon / undead
aaand the fine execute, hanmer of wrath
