I know slayers the hype, but any advice for Colossus pvp?
What’s been working for you guys?
I’ve tried it as Prot. The fact that Demolish roots you in place absolutely kills it for me.
It really should just be like fist of fury.
you need spear to make it work, or someone like a shaman
Faced some arms in arena trying to land without it, you just walk away
I second this. My second warrior is arms and in arena I run TSG. DK pulls in, aoe blind, and that usually sets it up nicely with spear and aoe stun.
But, that being said, I really like fury so much better.
Why do you like fury more?
The immediate pressure and sustain is higher. Burst can be argued, but fury burst lines up faster. Only downside is I think fury is squishier in arena with dampening while arms has die by the sword and other utility fury does not.
Overall damage fury is better currently.
I also really like the fast playstyle. You really feel like a berserker.
Thanks for sharing. Some benefits I like about Colossus include the better heal reduction and better defensive options.
I also feel Colossus may not be being optimized by the community as Fury is the fotm currently.
Glad to share.
Technically Fury has better healing reduction imo. 34% from slaughterhouses which can get stacked super easy. Arms does have sharpen though for big healing reduction, but only lasts for 4 seconds.
I find both specs fun overall. Demolish feels more set up oriented for big burst, while fury is in your face bruiser.
If they let demolish channel while moving, it would be so much better >_<.
I’m curious about stat priority as well
Icy veins touts haste due to the 6 second burst window, but there are also benefits to crit when not going all in laden though out the spec, and mastery ultimately buffs the crit damage as well
Perhaps people are prioritizing haste because it’s also so excellent for fury and they are non commital with Colossus
Not counting how Sharpen blade is yet again another darn button to keep in check on when to press it, while slaughterhouse is passive sustained pressure.
My best advice is to go Slayer. I don’t think it’s as fun or cool, but it’s way easier and way better.
Demolish is the big pull, but the mechanics of the ability make it pretty bad. The passive damage from stacking Colossal Might is nice, but overall, the big change to your gameplay is that you have Demolish to work into your kill windows, and it’s not that good of an ability. The passive power you get from Slayer is far better.
I really want them to work on Demolish and make it better. It’s nuts to me that using it without avatar / warbreaker, but with 10 stacks, it does about as much damage as a fully channeled Rapid Fire which is used from long range, can be channeled while moving, and has a way shorter CD. If you don’t get lucky with your MS resets or SD it can feel like it takes a while to get those 10 stacks, and feel even longer to start triggering the CD reduction.
i noticed this just now by going prot colosus
With arms i struggle to finish a 5 delve as colossus(did with slayer jut fine), but prot i doing a 7 very safe.
i can stack the 10 easier and it feels like the damage is bigger as prot.
According to patch notes
Colossus is getting a 20 percent damage buff on the 1st two hits of Demolish
and Fury is getting a 15 percent nerf on Odins Fury
I doubt it will make a difference to be honest.
I don’t think it will matter when the ability is clunky, hard to land, and slow to get off.
And that’s just my experience leveling in dungeons with it. I can imagine how much harder it is to use in PVP against anyone who isn’t a clicker and keyboard turner.
I find it interesting that Bajheera doesn’t take Executioners Precision, nor does he take Fatality in his Colossus build.
Both of these talents are heavily nerfed specifically in pvp, to the point that taking the constant +15 percent buff to bleeds may make more sense.
For example Precision goes from a max 70 percent dmg buff on the next mortal strike after 2 executes to a mere 20 percent buff.
What do you guys think?
theyve over nerfed a ton of arms talents in pvp. its incredibly frustrating that most of them have some modifier from expansions as far back as legion.
