Advice for Achievements?

I have a lot of old content to knock out so i’m just doing quests in panda land currently.

But any advice on getting my Achievement points up? Figured i’d start off trying to do all quests in a area than work my way up from there.

Old dungeon and raid achievements will probably jump you up the quickest. There are so many.

tldr: Multiple max level alts will net you points faster than just one when it comes to things like Expansion Features, Collections, Reputation, and Professions.

Category recommendation: Exploration>Dungeons and Raids>Expansion Features, mainly Garrisons+Legion Class Halls since those are passive and more of a daily check-in type>Professions(can become tedious very quickly, however, fishing and cooking dailies are also one per check in).
If you really, really want to pursue points, make a list of things you want to do first and make reminders so you don’t forget to do the dailies tied to them. Many reputations require dailies. Don’t burn yourself out by trying to do in weeks what has taken people years (if not >10 years) of gameplay.

After glancing at your profile for a quick second, it seems your lowest contributing category for achievement points are the following:

  1. World Events - 5%

(tldr: These come once a year. Complete them 100% each time if you can. Lots of achievement points, easy to do. Everything else can be done at a later time – world events are once a year.)

  1. Pet Battles - 9%

(tldr: If you hate this, skip it, save it for last. Don’t do what you hate. There aren’t a lot of points here that can be farmed in a short amount of time compared to other categories… do this one over time, start with boosting your collection [unique # of pets collected]).

  1. Professions - 10%

(tldr: use alts for multiple professions to boost main professions. Secondary professions have the most achievement points. Use your main for those such as archaeology, fishing, cooking. Archaeology has most points, but is very slow and tedious.)

  1. Reputation - 11%

(tldr: Timewalking Dungeon Emblems can be turned in for commendations for most, if not 80% of old world reputation. This is much faster than dailies if you have a tank/healer to farm timewalking during the event, or a tank/healer friend to farm WITH you during the event… given you hate dailies.)

  1. Expansion Features - 16%

(tldr: Garrisons, Legion Class Halls, etc. If you have alts to do different garrison buildings, this will go much faster as each toon can have their own separate unique buildings for faster points. Pandaria Scenarios have a fair amount of points, but I haven’t queued for them in years so I can’t discuss time invested vs point return.)

Honorable Mention: Exploration. This is super easy to complete and will probably net you the most achievement points in the last amount of time–you literally just fly around the world, uncovering each zone, and earn points per zone. This can be completed very, very fast given 310% flight (and you just turn on Netflix and cruise around!).

Pet Battles

  • So, if you hate pet battles – cross that one out. Your fifth would be expansion features… which consists of things like WoD garrisons, scenarios, island expeditions, legion class halls, etc. Those are passively easy… you can set up your Garrison and take it day by day. Same with Legion class halls. Basic things like unlocking certain tiers and buildings (buildings especially are a gold mine for garrison achievement points) will rack up achievement points.

World Events

  • Moving on, you have world events. These only come once a year, but they also have many many achievements tied to them, and most (if not all) can be completed in a short amount of time. I highly recommend pursuing World Event completion. Everything else can be done at (mostly, 95% of the time) any time, but world events: Noblegarden, Winter’s Veil, etc.

Professions

  • Professions come easy with alts: Disclaimer: They come easy with alts when working towards the achievements that require multiple professions at maximum expansion level. When tracking single-character progression achievements, such as Cooking dailies, Fishing dailies, # of Fish caught, etc… do that on your MAIN character. A few of them require you to max a profession, some are “max each profession through each expansion”. Archaeology has the most achievements tied to it, and I highly encourage you to pursue Archaeology given free time.

Reputation

  • Reputation will tie in to Loremaster questing. If questing is your thing (you mentioned it in your main post) then go for it! It’s very difficult, overwhelming, and can be exhausting to want to pursue everything at once. You’ll experience burnout very quickly. However, if you do decide to stick to questing, start with zones you like. If you haven’t leveled some alts, try leveling them through zones you want to complete as part of Loremaster.

My recommendation: Exploration first… old Glory achievements, maybe dip into professions. Do some Garrison work. Complete Noblegarden in it’s entirety if you haven’t already. If you take advantage of the 100% experience buff (if you haven’t already), it will be much easier to complete Garrisons and Legion Class Halls (you can do separate Garrison buildings for each alt, earn achievements faster, rather than building different buildings on only one character). If you have multiple alts, earning achievements will be much faster.

However, this is a very long road. If you try to do it all at once, again, you’ll burn yourself out and you don’t want that to happen. If you’re like me (furloughed and classes moved online) and you have all the time in the world, then by all means do whatever you want, but do what you enjoy doing first.

This is a long, long post but I really do hope that it helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. I love to see people chasing achievement points because I’m the same way (even though I kind of put it on pause as I’m farming my main).

You’re welcome! I hope it helps.

You do… but achievements have been around since what, '09 or '08 is my earliest? That’s nearly 12 years of stuff to do… it’ll take some time but it’ll be fun.
