Advanced Dragon Racing Advise?

So I finished up gold on all the normal races and started trying my hand at advanced races. I was able to get gold on my first race but only after 20 failed attempts that were .003 to .7 over time. These are the things I’ve learned:

  1. Disable all addons in case they slow your own system down.
  2. Turn off ground clutter. This will allow you to see a bit more than normal. In fact turn all graphical settings down to min to decrees the potential for any lag.
  3. Play during an off hour.
  4. Learn to clip the rings and just barely dodge the arcane balls. Going through the middle of a ring often means more distance. Over time this can add up.
  5. Practice using ability 1 to maintain your speed at the last possible moment. There are several races were you have to maintain the ability to gain vigor but need to conserve some for later in the course when you have to go uphill.

Is there any other advise people have found helpful?

Be it armies of giants, crucibles, or ancient dragons, I could not be stopped! What could challenge me in these isles?? Nothing? well unless of course there is a branch. Stopped dead in my tracks in what should of been my best time yet.

Use your time displacement (4 by default?) at the finish location, when you have passed the last ring before the finish SLAM that time displace to cover all the distance between last ring and finish

Theres a good number of advanced races in azure span especially where the time displacement helps make or breake that .001 time difference.

Wow i didn’t know dragon races got this deep

This is just crazy there’s no way this is intentional on blizz’s part they are not that creative. But good on you guys for finessing this content!

Remember that using your basic speed boost ability will also make you temporarily immune to hazards. A well timed boost will let you just fly straight through those orbs or lava spouts or whatever without a care, letting you keep going straight

Thanks for the tips! I never really repeated any races. I usually get bronze first try and move on. I few times my view was blocked so missed a ring. This should help with that.

…Didn’t they actually nerfed that?

Because i tried doing that in one of the races and… it didn’t work.

Its 100% possible, I did all this early in the expac, i haven’t bothered with races ever since forgotten reach was added and I realized the dragon racing titles are character bound making them kinda pointless.

I’m almost to Isle Racer title. I got ZC and FR titles.

  • I fly in first person view.
  • Don’t forget to use Skyward Ascent
  • I took my fingers off WASD and only used mouse
  • Some races you can cheat in that it lets you move before 321 timer finishes.
  • Hitting the edge can count for rings
  • look for slight alternate paths like around a tree
  • save vigor often for steep climbs or last ring

I thought they disabled the ability to do this.

In some spots skyward ascent will be much more powerful than surge forward. As you’ve run the course a few times look for a chance or two to swap these out.
