If that situation only popped up in the last couples weeks because of the you know world wide situation yes it warrants layering yes.
Perhaps, yet some servers are up to 5-6 hours and will possibly remain over 2 for the next 5 months.
Should layers remain for almost the duration of what we’ve played thus far?
Regardless of the timeframe of irl adjustments to covid, changes in peoples routines - especially that of students - will very likely remain for a very long duration.
I think populations and queues times were relatively stable in the few months after they turned layering down to 1 initially.
There were realms with queues but that was known.
The current situations is something completely unexpected and layering is an acceptable response to it.
They were, but a large portion of individuals will be wfh and students will be transitioning into summer from not having school. Roughly a five month period.
It is possible queues will continue for at least that duration.
How come every move you guys make is like J Allen is spearheading it trying to run it into the ground so he can proven right? You think you do, but you don’t.
I’m saddened and embarrassed for this game and for blizzard. I helped closed beta test for vanilla doing pally tuning and it is so sad to see how far you have fallen.
Like i said, i have no real idea on that.
People pop in here and post up BS all the time, but you cant tell because 30 people will hop right on the BS train.
That aside, i guess you might factor in what seems acceptable in a normal situation, and what seems acceptable when you know a lot of your customers are in a stressful situation
Thank you Blizzard Team,
I feel heard. Whitemane thanks you for your service. <3
I don’t disagree, but that is still a temporary situation.
typical salty Tempest players still upset they arent in the vastly superior guild. go back to your private servers.
So if you are on the wrong layer you dont even have a chance to kill the world boss or contest the kill? GREAT… Layering is such a good solution.
What is Blizzard doing to incentivise people to transfer servers now? Cause from my perspective Blizzard is doing nothing. I am stuck on Fairbanks with layering, no transfer option and would be forced to try and convince my guild to pay for multiple character transfers and give up their pvp ranking teams.
Are there plans to make your population caps lower on all realms?
Right now you’re effectively capping realms at a higher population cap than what your infrastructure can handle. You do this by closing them to transfers, character creation, setting queues, etc. Wouldn’t it be prudent to start making decisions in the interest of the long term to start lowering the population caps of these realms?
The game has changed, the interests have changed for players. Although people wanted high population caps initially pre-release, I think people would say otherwise now if they knew that these high population caps would mean perpetual layering, their friends can’t come play with them whenever they want (frozen char creation/closed transfers), and queue times.
Before, it was “do you want high population caps with initial layering being removed once these high caps are naturally not being met because of declining player interest etc”. Now I think the conversation would be more like “Do you want population caps to be high, even though that means layering is in perpetually?”.
My point being, I think there would be some actual interest in population caps being lowered in the interest of keeping the game in a more “natural” state without layering, queues, locked character creation.
Benefits to lower population caps being: No queues, No layering, Freedom to character create
Cons: Lower pop, less “competition” (perception > reality)
Think its a halfway decent conversation to have.
To summarize, maybe we should start talking about a long term population AND stability solutions in setting “population caps” to a lower number.
You wouldn’t if you were in a queue either…
The fishing tournament meta will require players to abuse layering to win.
And being online and still not having a chance is so much better…
5 months isn’t temporary, the games only been out since EOM August 2019.
I would simply like Blizzard to provide some indication of what parameters they have decided upon to determine how long this will be the case.
I can hazard a guess they reviewed a few KPI’s and assessed, ‘Hey, we’ll do this temporarily to make these values shift green again.’ While not defining specific metrics around what ‘temporary’ will be defined as, being that it is difficult to predict accurately; thus why we get half measures implemented haphazardly and get no key information around them - as we’ve experienced throughout the lifespan of Classic.
In numerous Discords I’m in, including my server discord, people are already discussing how they will exploit this and setting up groups to do so.
Gonna be the same temporary as the sharding on retail i suppose
For most people yes it really is.
Does a 2 hour queue justify layers? If so, some servers in this list may likely be layered for almost as long as the game has been out thus far.
Nah… Maybe only one server would have since only one server had queues during primetime consistantly.
That is my supposition as well. It’s possible it’ll be at least the next 5 months, which is almost how long Classic has been out =/
When considering that layering was in place for P1, it’s gonna be World of Layercraft: Classic.
“Layering will NOT be in the game with world bosses” - Blizzard then
“So we’re reintroducing layering at the exact same time as world bosses because we are to stupid to come with a real solution and thought the game would be dead already” - blizzard
Seriously blizzard, I hate you, I hate you so much, you can’t even make a copy paste of a 15 year old game without screwing it up, you’re all useless.
All of this could have been completely avoided if you didn’t rent the cheapest servers possible,
This game could have been massive but for an MMO company there is nothing MASSIVE about you, if anything you try to take the MASSIVE out of mmos to put everyone in small containment realms, its pathetic, the only thing your disgusting company cares about is money.
We make you billionares and you spit in our faces and tell us you can’t afford to give us a decent experience, your pathetic and everyone working at your company should be ashamed.
