Addons In WoW Like Raider IO

Are great, community driven projects that enhance gameplay and community. WoW has the option to allow addons for a reason. Player agency dictates what is needed and all of these great websites let you build and share large pools of addons.

Great successes like Deadly Boss Mobs, Raider IO, Big Wigs, Bartender, Gladius, etc… all designed by a passionate gamer who saw a need and fulfilled it. The players clearly loved it and started to use it. That is how addons get popular.

Let’s just take a moment to reflect and thank addon devs!

I think they cultivated an awesome fun community too. Most people on the site are positive - and they are involved with hundreds of thousands of players worldwide.

I agree that these addon developers put in a lot of time to help make fun things for us - which is important. Very happy to be a part of it!

I hope more things like this come about in the future too. Social types of communities that translate well into the game are one of the reasons many of us stick around.

:green_heart: thank you :purple_heart:

I totally agree with OP.

…but GD is the type of forum where your thread will soon be inundated with the RiO = Toxicity arguments.

Yea, the people saying that are the toxic ones though. Always complaining and bashing talented addon devs while mouthing off to the giant community that uses the addons. It’s insanity

Anything that makes content easier to clear with a pug is going to be welcome.

are there any more addons like that?

Used to be. Gear score was so universally used it’s not baked into the game as item level.

Quest Helper too.

Yea, people forget how much of a hassel so many things were before addons were created to make them forget the pain. I remember forming raids and having to go to every applicants armory page to see their progress. Now you can mouse over with Raider IO and see all of it instantly. So much better. The same people who hate raider IO complained when people used armory to search their characters and they wanted to remove the wow armory LOL.
