There seems to be a lot of discourse and debate regarding add-ons and their existence as it pertains to Classic…
So let’s collect everything you have to say in one thread.
I’ll start by saying… They’re fine? Optional, even. And were present in Vanilla.
I personally know Omen and Damage Meters existed in Vanilla, so did Auctioneer, Gatherer, and Titan Panel eventually. It didn’t have as many panels and features, but it totally existed.
And near the launch of TBC, in the very patch we are emulating or close to it, there was Quest Helper.
If people want to use these things, that’s their choice. If you wanna spend more time and “enjoy the ride” then you can play with a standard UI.
Personally? I plan to use some kinda raid interface and the group finder tools.
Sorry but spamming LFM or LFG for six hours in a chat channel is worse than death. I didn’t have time for it in 2005 when I was 18, I reeeeaaally don’t have time for it now. I work full time and I’m on call when I’m at home, what little free time I have won’t be spent LFG in chat and getting frustrated I can’t find anyone to group with.
Now, if addons aren’t allowed eventually I’ll still play but avoid group content.
First off, a integral part of classic is making friends, its as important as getting items… if you get to 60 and need to spam a chat couse you have no friends, maybe you done something wrong ?..
everyone want to use their time, and some dont want to pick herbs, and want to have that herbing automated, thatis as wrong as having a tool that automates your ability to create groups…
What is so wrong with having to comunicate with real people ?
I am against anything that turns the game into an “idle clicker”. Things like auctioneer addons that do all your thinking for you, auto-pilots that tell you where to go, stuff like that. Its a personal preference of course but the game is more fun to me when I make all the decisions (often wrong or at best not optimal). No matter how much time I spend in game I want it to be quality time, don’t care if I am the last one to 60 on the server, don’t care if I don’t raid, as long as I am enjoying myself with good banter and some shenanigans.
Lets not beat around the bush. Your whole post went from making the addons that were around in vanilla ok to changing the tone about LFG and well…
Around and around the mullberry bush the monkey chases the weasel and where they stop nobody knows POP! goes the weasel.
“I’ll start by saying… They’re fine? Optional, even. And were present in Vanilla.”
“Personally? I plan to use some kinda raid interface and the group finder tools.”

-I feel your post was centered around the LFG addon, and i figured I’d just crush your hopes and dreams right here. Blizz already blue posted that LFG addons will not work in classic and if they find a way to get them to work -blizz will break them. LFG Addon was never a part of vanilla.
With this said, perhaps sticking to the retail (non classic) experience would be a better idea for someone with such limited time. I mean think about it. You join a group and then you would always be that guy/gal needing to leave because of real life (i get it-we all get it), but you are now wasting everyone’s time and ruining the experience for other players around you. Content in classic is going to be VERY time consuming…its no longer GG EZ mode as retail is today.
just something for everyone to think about who are in the same situation or even those who are lazy and want that insta-gratification that they get for Retail…
Also! one last thing…for all ya’ll expecting a participation trophy…GLHF ya gotta earn everything.
I am being honest. If there are any left after Blizzard announced that they’d be breaking the functionality of that controversial LFGwhatever addon “and others like it” then I hope it helps you. Those addons left will likely be simple bulletin board-type tools, as someone above put it.
I guess this isn’t the game for you. That’s the cold hard truth and you need to learn to accept it.
Classic is a MMORPG where you need to commit time. If you have other commitments then try and make time. If you can’t, then play games where you don’t need to commit time like BFA or Diablo or Fortnite, etc.
I mean, no? But I appreciate your candid nature, even if it has that usual Blood Elf Poster pretension and condescension. Appreciated.
Like I said, I plan to use addons to make the best of my time. As many have pointed out now, the LFG addons won’t be an option so I just … Won’t use them? Instead I will enjoy the zones for questing and following the post-WC3 storylines.
I can easily choose to do solo content, avoid group quests… Which were also hell to find a group for until they stopped putting them in the game… And stay away from raids and dungeons.
There are other things you can do, such as what I listed and playing the AH and server economy with professions.
P.S. I hate retail. I’m not gunna go back there, and have been unsubbed most of WoD-now because of poor design and writing.
Sure there is content where you don’t need to group or play with a guild. You won’t get much done but you can solo quest and skip the group quests. You’ll need to group up at later levels though. You can also PvP. BGs aren’t available until phase 2 so World PvP for now.
If you’re rolling on a RP realm, there will be tons of RP events like PvP raids which don’t require time commitment.
It also doesn’t take 6 hrs to find a group. With the servers being as full as they are, it’ll take you seconds to find a group. Stop worrying.
