Addons can no longer use /who functionality

If you use recount, then don’t be mad when people call you out for having inaccurate and imprecise data about the fight.

Also what an arbitrary line to draw, what about bartender and dominos? What about classic character stats? What about bagnon/adibags, TSM, accountantclassic, moveanything, vuhdo, etc?

Or better yet how about you take your rigid way how people should play classic (barring TOS breaking activities) and shut it.

addon usage of the sendwho() api call has been blocked for WoW Classic, not for the standard version of WoW.

If it were the retail api entirely it would have stuff like focus target or nameplates beyond 20 yards. But it doesn’t and you want to know why? Because it is a modified version crafted to emulate intended functionality that existed during vanilla.

If you and others had your way with wanting the real vanilla API you would have accept the fact that there would be actual automated gameplay happening in classic. Activity that was cut down when the TBC pre-patch dropped.

How do you block the spam?

Addons have been a part of the game since day one, the default UI is a garbage UI, and people have been improving it since the beta.

The default UI is … the default.
Yes Blizzard has supported user modification of their interface from the start, and has over the years implemented what they found very good into the base game client.

No one should be allowed to use any addons.

*except for the addons I like

Oh man… I so hope this is true. Stomp on that ClassicLFG addon over and over so I can delight in the squeals of retail and classic+ kids having to actually socialize. I’m going to go hunting for that blue post right now. So awesome. Blizzard, I love you.

Haven’t ever had to use ClassicLFG since our server has high enough pop (the LookingForGroup channel is all we really need), but it’s hilarious to see how many people get offended by other players playing the game in a way they don’t like or using QoL addons that don’t even affect them.

It’s probably for this reason and lfg add on that they broke things. Which is exactly what I said would happen to all the kiddies shouting how amazing the add on is and how they will have it, etc. Told em blizzard would indeed change their code to break add ons even if it has unintended side effects. And looky looky! I am very glad they did this. Auto guild invite people are scum and it’s very rude.

Daaaaaaaang, bet he get’s all the girls in the playground sunglasses Really tho a few add ons I use, tho none of them effect gameplay for me. Atlas loot, auctioneer, xpearl, and bagnon. Things like dbm, questie n the like hold your hand too much imo.

I dont get it. If you’re a anti-addon purist, why in the hell would you want Recount as one of your two approved addons?
Runs would probably go a lot smoother if DPS wasnt laying in on mobs before the tank can establish aggro, bc heaven forbid they dont rank 1st in the damage meter.

I had an arms warrior in a cath run doing just that. Bragging about her dps while going as hard as she could every pull with whirlwind cleaves and sweeping strikes.

Annoyed the tar out of me, but at least we got it done quickly.

Too many people coming into the forums to announce classic has more players than retail

of course they removed it.

Paws up.

Anyway, yeah people get pretty silly over wanting to restrict others enjoyment of the game to how they feel it should be played.

Hey, if they improve their absolutely horrible UI then I’d be fine with this. However, they put in the addon API so that third parties could save Blizzard work by improving the UI for free.

Stuff like classes having far too many abilities to fit on all the bars. What, are you supposed to open your spellbook to cast certain spells? What a clunky way to get things done, why don’t they include native drop-down menus for common things like aspects, tracking, buffs, whatever?

And that’s just a small example, the UI can be improved in many other ways. In fact, over the years Blizzard had adopted many of the third party addon features into the default UI. Until they reset it all with Classic, of course.
