AddOns Button Not Appearing

I recently uninstalled and reinstalled WoW, and now my addons button has disappeared.

My addons appear to be in the correct location: Program Files (x86) > World of Warcraft > retail > Interface > AddOns

I’ve tried downloading the addons again but the button is still not appearing anywhere. Help…please :frowning:

The only times I’ve heard of this happening is when you actually have two WoW installation directories: the one you know (where you’re installing your addons), and another different one that the installer put in (without your awareness) and that the launcher is using.

Check the game settings in the Blizz desktop app and confirm that both you and the launcher agree where WoW is installed.

It is showing that the folder used for game play is World of Warcraft Public Test. When I try to change it to the World of Warcraft folder it says that “This folder doesn’t contain the correct version of this game. Please check the installation path and try again.”

That means you’re launching PTR in the game selector, not Retail

I do not have the PTR installed anymore and it still does this. Also, when I launch the game I am not playing the PTR. I am playing the regular game. I’m at a loss on what to do next.

You clearly do still have PTR, since that’s the folder the launcher is pointing to. Maybe you uninstalled Retail by accident?

If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall the Blizzard Desktop App. After that, it should find the correct directories for the correct games, or at least let you point it in the right direction.

I switch to PTR on the app and it says “Install”.
I switch to retail and it says “Play”.

Yeah, that’s epically weird. Maybe someone else can suggest something useful, but if the game settings for Retail point to a directory calling itself “Public Test”, the only thing I could suggest would be an uninstall/reinstall of the Blizzard app. (Perhaps with deleting the “Public Test” folder in the middle, since you don’t intend to have that version installed, and its presence might trip up the Blizzard App when you reinstall.)

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft_retail_
In the launcher window for Warcraft click settings then Game install/update.
That window should have a section for game location for BFA make sure it points to the folder the right one.

I have already explained that I have tried this and it gives me an error message.

Hi Vantria

Let’s reinstall the Battle.net - a real clean uninstall first.

  1. Uninstall the Blizzard app

Step 5 must be completed - delete the Battle.net folder. While you are in the ProgramData folder delete the Blizzard Entertainment folder as well

  1. Next open these temp locations and delete any “Battle.net” and “Blizzard” folders you find in each location.

(Press Windows Key + R and type or copy/paste each of these lines in the Run box separately. Click “OK” afterwards.)

%LOCALAPPDATA%
%APPDATA%
%TEMP%
%PROGRAMDATA%

  1. Then go ahead and reinstall the app from here:

Afterwards right click the desktop icon then select “Run as Administrator”

THIS GUY … This guy knows what he’s talking about. I have spent the lat hour trying to figure out what was going on and SniperOrc was able to give me an answer that worked. Thank you, thank you.
