Addons being removed isn't a bad thing

Look I understand how you guys feel, I’ve grown accustom to my weak auras also and it will be hard for me to get used the changes but this purge will actually be a good thing going forward.

It’s just the fact that no gamer want’s to give away their advantage/edge and thats just what addons have become in recent years. You have to admit that, the perks that weakauras and so on provide are the reason Blizzard stepped in. We as a community have grown dependent on them.

It will probably feel really awkward the first month but people will adapt. There was a time when we all played the game with base UI and no bigwigs/dbm with air horns right? We can get back to stage before and developers can actually create content that isn’t hampered by the pressure to build around these things.

Now we all know the default ui that blizzard is going to release will suck big time ballz, thats a given! I think thats where the pushback should be. But somethings they do knock out of the park! Like I remember back in Wrath I had to use carbonite while leveling cause the quest markers were horrible, now it’s been integrated in a way that makes carbonite look really bad. So there is some hope that they will fix things its just who knows how long that will be.

I’m interested to see what kind of boss fights and new mechanics are going to be implemented. I’m still not sold on Midnight as an expansion as I don’t really care about decorating a house, but until I see the dungeons fleshed out and what kind of gameplay is to be expected, I think I’m just going to move on as I am far too addicted to this game lol probably for the best if its not good.

What do you guys think? What kind of mechanics are we expected to see now that there isn’t an airhorn telling us to move out the way?

I think 12.0 is going to be a mess and there will be an outrage, especially from players who don’t keep up with news and have no idea they are going to come back to having no combat addons and not understand what changes have been made to the game.

But as Blizzard adds more functionality and people adjust, I think its possible that the game ends up in a better place overall with time.

I will reserve judgement until I see where Blizzard’s new tools land by launch. Supposedly their “combat timeline” replacement for DBM/Wigs will also have sound alerts for boss abilities as well. I’m sure that we’ll see some mechanics toned down though; what I’m more curious about is M+ trash packs.

That functionality should be there day 1 of midnight not patch 12.2.7 or 13.0 the last titan.

Its the single worst decision they coukd take for the simple fact it will take so long for them to accept their default ui efforts were not nearly enough. 2 years to realize thay minimum

I’m extremely excited to see the fallout.

There’s electricity in the air. What will become of the game, when players no longer have a robot shouting in their ears to not stand in the fire. When PVP’ers are no longer able to keep effective track of … well basically anything. When healers have to use the barely functional raid ui to heal.

I dont see any world where the player base doesnt have a full meltdown.

Player houses will be set ablaze.

It will be glorious.

I know that. Everyone knows that. Hence why I said 12.0 will be a mess.

Personally though I don’t think it will take that long to get the basic necessary functions in, like better unit frames for healers.

All they really have to do is make the dots bigger and add outlines to the frame when someone gets a dispelable debuff. It’s not exactly anything major, it’s just we’ve been so used to customizing and tweaking every tiny detail of the game.

They have had quite a lot of time to ponder this I’d imagine, so maybe they have a plan and they’re not just wining it.

I’m quite optimistic that maybe healing might become more fun

yes im sure blizzard will def have everything patched up and ready to go for release.

except this is blizzard and we all know are down to season one of beta testing suffering so the people that comes on the expansion after plays the polished up old expansion and have to wonder why did all the people last expansion were crying about because everything is fine now.

this has never happened before.

I’ve unsubbed over it.

Thankfully I still have game time until next March, so I can see what happens

I haven’t actually logged on since that first day of alpha when it became clear what they’d done. I don’t expect them to go back on this, so I have to get used to not playing. I am looking forward to seeing the fallout though!

The small minority will cry like they always do when they don’t get their way. The rest of us will adapt, it’s the same thing every time something happens in this game. I couldn’t care less if they remove every single addon, I’ll adapt.

Why would you want something to fail just to confirm your bias? Wouldn’t you hope that it works out and lots of people enjoy it?

Sounds like a really unhealthy relationship with a videogame tbh

Midnight is going to lose a lot more subs than Shadowlands.

I would throw a guess out that for every person saying they are going to quit over addons, there is another person out there reading about simpler classes, toned down mechanics, housing, etc and thinking they may come back to the game.

I have to quit over quite trivial things, like not being able to properly see something like Maelstrom Weapon Stacks on enh shaman.

Accessibility that was provided by addons such as WA is never going to be matched by blizzard.

Have you actually tried tracking it with the updated cooldown manager? Sounds like something it could track.

Or it just doesn’t do it exactly the way you’d like it so now you have to quit?

Microblizzard will def screw things up. But as far as addons, again this should of been a thing long ago instead of now where the game itself is just a cluster f all around. They need to start fixing and upgrading other stuff prior to this. There’s def going to be a outrage, but that happens on here every day for the past few years… so, nothing new there, lol.

The concept isnt a bad thing…making the game so its challenging and no one even thinks to go get an addon for mechanics sounds nice.

But the problem may end up being that Ion and crew like to make bad decisions and then double down on them until enough players quit…then months into it they come back with “oh, sorry, our bad, we’ll do better next time”.

After YEARS of that garbage, yeah, players are a bit hesitant to trust that Ion will actually do a good job and not just be himself in this and they’ll end up quitting over it…again.
There are still lists of pointless things Ion has done with this game that the ego wont allow him to revert or fix.

hoping for the best personally…expecting the worst…as usual with this team.

I’m on the opposite side of the fence.

I basically dont use addons at all. The only one i might lose is Leatrix, which while disappointing is not end of the world.

I have details too, but again if it goes oh well. These changes will not impact me in anyway, so i’m just sitting back

I think this is more “ fun detected “. Unless you play exactly the way blizzard mandates you are doing it wrong.

Zero chance their interface will be as polished as addons that have been actively upgraded and polished for the last 20 years.

Blizzard has done nothing to earn or deserve any faith or trust.

You realize this tier only had ONE weakaura boss? It’s not going to be anything new. You just won’t have weakaura bosses. So: No Ovi’nax, Stix, sprocket, Fractilus.

Yes, I can play Fellowship.

Nothing new. You don’t even raid, so you won’t see any of it.

Also, this this you?
