Addons being bugged?

Whenever I open Apperances tab via Shift P, it freezes for a split second then all the X’s turn to a green box and my whole ui is outlined in a green color when using Elvui
Unless Elvui was on the banned addon’s list im not running anything that should be causing this

I’ve had the same. However, I use the base UI and after the freeze, it’s only addon windows like Details that turn green. I assume it’s an outdated addon malfunctioning.

Yeah. details was on that “ban” list since I heard that blizz was going to make their own but ive already deleted it/updating it to no avail

I only have details and this has been happening to me too.
The addon isnt flagged as out of date.

From what im learning its an optimization issue of the sorts where WoW itself clashes with the addon in a way hopefully they fix this soon or in next weeks maintence

No, a large patch dropped and all addons need to update themselves, this is a known and normal thing

Have you updated your ElvUI addon properly yet?

If you dont have the client, you have to manually update anytime ElvUI is updated, and the last update was yesterday. Make sure you delete the previous three folders that are in Interface>Addons if you dont have the client. (profile and settings are kept elsewhere).

This does not happen with me, although the Appearance pane is no longer skinned fully.

You can try unskinning it by going to ElvUI>Skins> Uncheck Collections.

Check that you have the latest version. There have been several updates and I have zero issues with Details or any of my 78 addons.

Never seen addons crash to this extent in the 15 years I’ve played WoW, and the addon is on the latest.

I have the version that was updated July 16th, 11.1.7 is listed, the game doesn’t show it as out of date.

Yes but all of these are up to date, i checked CurseForge and they were updated to the 11.1.7 patch as of yesterday or earlier today

I’ve been having lag, even in Delves, but I’m not sure if this is due to Addons or something else.

It’s not all that unusual for addons to not work right when a new expansion / season / patch comes along. This goes exponential for changes that are design to weaken or block certain addons.

This is not addon-related at all actually; it happens even if you have all addons disabled. What you need to do is go into your Graphics API settings and swap from DirectX 12 (or auto detect, whichever you have selected) down to DirectX 11, and make sure your graphics card is not set to auto detect. This is a bug on Blizzard’s end and that is currently the workaround. Hopefully they’ll patch it soon.

addons break when a new patch comes out, whats causing it is that you didnt update your addons you dingus

Unrelated to addons as people running WoW without addons are also dealing with this issue dingus. It’s a DirectX 12 issue, as switching to DirectX 11 solved the problem for most people.

I am using a ton of add-ons and I haven’t had any issues, but I did update all my add-ons twice already.

Same happens to me when i alt tab. Been happening since Tuesday so it something. I thought my memory was going bad or something like that lol

It is more than likely a memory issue and you should change your background settings if it happens often when you alt tab.
