Yes they are, you dinguses. Tons of addons existed in 2005/2006 and they were way more powerful than they are now.
That’s all.

Huh? Who said that? Everyone used at least one addon back then. I didn’t fiddle with my stock interface too much but I had a ton of quality of life things, including the original Decursive.
Not in 2004!
Tons of people have been saying it, even ingame right now you can easily find people in trade chat that will sneer at you for using addons, claiming that it’s “not the classic experience” and such.
Actually there were addons in 2004, developed during the beta and such.
Were there? Huh. Tickle me surprised. Add ons make everything so much better. SUch as being able to see enemy cast bars
Yeah, not a whole lot, but there WERE addons right at release in 2004.
so many people are saying this, it’s kind of annoying
and I see in chat lots of people telling others to go back to bfa. it’s the wrong tone to set in classic if you ask me… but #barrenschat.
I want to start a guild this weekend and start building a good community of players.
Yes, addons were a big part of Vanilla.
Key parts of the UI, such as raid frames, actually started off as addons before Blizzard incorporated them into the stock UI.
I didn’t. -
Addons make you a bad player in so many ways, even the quests ones i know a lot of people who dont know wich way is east or west
You can see those by default, too.
I dont think the issue was ever “all addons” just stuff like LFG that would be used to essentially make Classic closer to retail.
Addons existed in vanilla but people are 1000x better at min maxing them now to the point of them being super useful compared to back in 04, they’ve had a lot more time to experiment and tune them.
I personally think they should’ve had intentional 3 day long maintenance "you raid on tuesdays? not on maintenance weeks lol, never updated classic to the patch it currently sits, have ninja looting and every flaw that vanilla was known for since it launched to actually get a feel for how it was back then for those that didn’t experience it.
But it is funny that people want to play the ‘vanilla’ experience thru Classic then immediately when logged in starts adding in QoL features Classic did not have, that the game does now.
It is funny.
yeah name a mage that didn’t use decursive to play for them on shaz lmao
Only a retail pleb would depend on addons.
Fight me.
