Addons are gone from WoW and Twitch

Couple days after 8.1 dropped I quit the game. I uninstalled WoW as well because that’s what I usually do.

Now I’m trying to come back, and so I reinstalled. but I can’t update any addons cause they don’t appear anywhere.
I can see them in my interface folder but thats it. No button in game to manage it and twitch shows I have no addons.

I don’t want to re-do all my addons because I know they are there. I just don’t know how to get to them. And everything is in the right folder. I know they changed that for 8.1 but I was there for that.

-I repaired my wow client
-Uninstalled twitch app and reinstalled

Maybe this might help.

I looked there and nothing.

Also I tried the first option. The problem is the Twitch client has updated since then and the options they want you to use are out of date.

I just don’t understand why both twitch AND wow don’t recognize my addons even though there is a folder full of them.

Yeah, because I particularly don’t use twitch I therefore realize that the addons are relocated (via retail folder)
C:\Program Files x86\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns

My addons are in the right place. But both places don’t recognize them.

Been up and about reading up on twitch. Confusing…
But anyway, to recognize addons in WoW it should be the first step…
....I can see them in my interface folder but thats it....
Have you tried moving an individual addon from the Interface folder to the AddOns folder just for a test? You can move it back later if you need it to be.

I just don’t know how to get to them
To move, select the “individual addon folder to move”, Left-click and hold while dragging with the mouse until you hover over the AddOns folder until it’s highlighted. Release left-click of the mouse.
If the test is positive then repeat the rest of the addons in the same way… eg. AddOns folder is highlighted. Release left-click of the mouse.

Is World of Warcraft not showing in the actual mods tab or are you getting the screen that says:

"Ready for battle? Install addons and you can manage them here!"
Browse for Addons | Refresh

Yes I’m getting that exact screen that you quoted. I keep clicking refresh and it doesnt work.

I linked it to the correct file (i think), so it should see that I have addons.

Some stuff in relation to symbolic links…

I have no clue what any of that means.

I put in a ticket to blizzard as well as twitch so hopefully I can get something out of those.

If you have the PTR on your client some times when twitch updates it will show add ons for ptr which if you do not have any then it will show nothing and you have to use a drop down box in the upper right corner to swap to reatail.

This may not be your problem but has happen to me and some other ppl and took a bit to figure out where my add ons are

At the top right there is a drop down where you can select retail or PTR. For whatever reason the App defaults to picking PTR where there are no addons listed.

I don’t have PTR installed

@Nahak: If you go to any addon (let’s say DBM), can you click the Install button? If you go to Versions tab of the addon, do any of the Actions (“download arrow”) work? My wife is having a very similar problem and I’ve noticed that the things I’ve described fail to work. However, on my Twitch app, everything is working fine. We’re also running the same versions of the app.

I suspect this is strictly a Twitch app problem though. Possibly something to do with how it builds its internal database of games/addons. The client log looks like it is trying to reach out somewhere and then fails (“BadRequest” aka error 400 for web people).

I haven’t figured it out yet and I don’t see this being a wide spread problem but more info from those affected will help!

Logged into Twitch to update my WoW mods with userid and password. Clicked on WoW and Mods. My avatar image was gone and I had 0 mods.

Since I have some customized mods, I didn’t want to start over. Opened a Twitch ticket. Got a form answer saying: supply:

  • user name
  • IP address
  • Birth date
  • Invoice IDs for recent purchases
  • email address on account

I’d already provided my user id and email. I use a VPN and I know they don’t have a DOB from the original Curse account, so I smell marketing. With Curse I’d get a personal useful answer quickly, not a bot query.

Figured it out:

Just below the WoW graphic is a line that reads:
My Addons…Get More Addons…Path (in a gray box with up and down arrows)

Just use the arrows to toggle to the path with WoW Retail. My mods are all still there. Didn’t see my PTR path listed.

some times when you download addons they are in a folder in a folder after you unzipped them or just download new ones (you have to for the latest addon patch build) or check the load out of date addons is ticked … i don’t use any auto installers (twitch desktop app etc
