Addons and Weakauras are fine

Studying addons and weakaura setups is part of the fun, why are you taking it away over some whining ppl that probably hard stuck at normal raid or 1400 pvp ratings

Can someone help me out here and link for me where Blizz said they’re no longer allowing addons or WAs?

I’m not taking them away, I just decided they were dusty so I took them to the cleaners. I’ll have them back next week.

It really isn’t though. WAs need to be banned. Like, yesterday.

If we’re specifically talking about PVP, mods make even less sense.

Yes, everyone should be playing from the same base line. That’s not even up for debate. People shouldn’t be obligated to download a third party mod to play on an equal level that other people enjoy, and allowing mods in PVP leaves you open to lunacy to things like kick bot.

Really? I don’t know anyone who has fun “studying” add-ons or configuring WAs. Most people I know have fun playing the game, not “studying” how to play it.

My best friend actually fits that description. He loves configuring weak auras and fiddling with stuff like that.

Also I second this. I can’t find any press releases about this.

It’s out there somewhere as I read it myself.

They want to look at how encounters/addons work in the future.

Apparently they are not happy with the current status quo.

I can’t find the article though.

You can get 1800 in Blitz just by showing up, so addons aren’t really going to have an effect on your tired strawman.

can you please make my remark the link text?

I confess too two things. First, I don’t know what you mean. Second, I had no idea that I would be allowed to post a link.

Sorry man.

No problem. Most times I don’t know what I mean till I go back and reread or listen to it a second time.

and even then, I’m like who is this idiot? Then I remember it’s me and I just go take a nap.

Ehhhh I understand where they’re coming from.

This isn’t a wholesale removal of addons rather they are planning to divulge less information that addons are able to read.

This looks like a positive change to me. More in game info making addons unnecessary is a good thing.

That isn’t what they’ll do though, at least from past experience.

Their whole ‘private auras’ crusade they launched in Dragonflight was all about making LESS information available to the player - including with the default user interface.

So several specs become basically unplayable without some form of auras. So much so that they included auras into the baseline game. Otherwise you’d be stuck trying to find that one buff icon in your list indicating that random proc, or alignment of procs. Weakauras are really doing the same thing in those cases that the built in auras are doing however in a more readable fashion depending on what you’re playing.

Yup. All weakauras does is change how information is displayed.

That’s not what is happening.

The addons that display info about your own class are going to be left untouched.

What they want to deal with are the interactions between bosses and addons by divulging less info to the addons so that you are forced to rely more on the telegraphs that blizzard gives us.
