Addons, a cheat? Or are they a boon and if so to whom

Is it cheating? No. But there are addons that should be banned like SuperGuildInvite.

Tank you! :yellow_heart:

Does that actually go far enough to break the rules about spamming? It’s more annoying than the boost spam in trade.

Who’s alt are you? This gets posted at least once a week
add-ons are not cheating, get over it.

Yes but the rest is up to you - how to move pieces, how to “predict” enemy pieces, etc. And were talking about RL chess here right? Not computer Chess.

I mean I’m not going to lie, I’ve participated in spamming Trade as a result of others trying to push our recruitment to the side. I just sit on the side that it feels more like you’re interacting with a player who’s advertising rather than a robot who’s like

BZZZT BZZZT

“CHECKING PULSE”

“PULSE CONFIRMED”

“WHISPER ENGAGED. GUILD INVITATION SENT”

“CHECKING PULSE”

I think Blizzard should just update guild recruiting but that’s my 2 cents.

That is the skill check of the game.

It was mostly brought up to dispute your claim that there is no true skill based perfect information game.

AFAIK addons like DBM and such don’t tell you anything the bosses don’t already tell you themselves. Don’t most boss abilities have some kind of built in warning that occurs before said ability actually happens, and DBM just makes it more obvious?

so if a guy refuses to drive because cars are newfangled technology and get mad that people get places before him, and says cars are cheating.

that’s how ridiculous your argument is.

I liked the addon going ons in Classic WoW.
Classic player: We want how it was, no ui telling you how where to go.
Classic player: begins to download quest addons.

Ah yes, vanilla where you could fully automate your class using the built in API.

I have a screen shot of one of the whispers I received, before I downloaded BadBoy, to counter it:

Tell me, that’s not an ad

Then why are you posting this thread?

Addons aren’t a service.

You haven’t finished a single M+ or raid boss outside of LFR.

I have no idea what you’re even talking about?

I have no idea what you’re even talking about.

What in tarnation?

It’s not a cheat. They are actively allowed within the Terms of Service and they are completely free for you to install as well; you are not at an unfair disadvantage if you choose to play that way.

Huh?

No, if they start charging for addons I already get for free I am out. That would unironically be the final straw.

Yeah they yell out something but if your RL is screaming in discord or the chat lags you’re all messed up.

I see that chat without having to read it. Its red and i know the yells.

Yes it does, it tells you when the CD of a boss ability is up and can be used telling your brain when to expect it. FFXIV does it the right way(on random order bosses, some are fixated), they have unique subtle or very obvious animations in which you have to react in time for. If you don’t react, its on you then.

It’s kind of a troll question to be honest even without the recent wave of similar threads. Add ons serve different purposes, some help you in game and others let’s whatever you type end up in uwu speak. Pretty sure being annoying isn’t cheating so your obviously talking about the ones players use for assistance in game. Using the add ons you are specifically talking about are not cheating. If it was, Blizzard would have banned them by now. They are the ones who determine what is and isn’t cheating in game is. You can be upset because others have a rare finder add on to farm rares with, it’s Blizzard’s job to block its usage. The addons in general have made the game easier and fun for players to play. There are even add ons like rare announcers that give the benefit & fun to all players by enabling them to get to rares quickly too. Blizzard’s adopted quite a few of them for UI improvements as well. I hope they don’t adopt the uwu speak one though.

Can players using add ons be toxic jerks and ruin the game for the enjoyment of others? Definitely, and we know which one I speak. It’s not necessarily the add ons though that is doing it. The players are probably getting data via an add on and using it inappropriately. That’s the player, not the add on. Plus, with those players, it’s their macros that’s the problem, and what’s giving them the edge to be considered cheating. Macros are a part of the game though.

Because the bald guy on the stream doesn’t like them.

No WoW addons are totally WoW related since the creator wrote the script for WoW.
