But if you don’t know what procced neither does the other guy, which means we’re all forced to build natural awareness, which is a skill that should be developed. If people are forced to make addons because it’s an essential arms race then that gives players unfair advantages who are able to make really good ones. Overall it’s just horrible game design.

I am really glad to see blizzard moving in the direction of implementing some of their own WAs baseline into the game and pulling back on what addons are allowed to do and see.
I think it’s a very positive shift that helps avoid the veritable arms race.

I remember Venruki talking about this saying his younger self would probably kick his butt in arena because he didn’t need addons.
He just learned everything to look for and was hyper aware about it.
Meanwhile, modern day Venruki is running on auto-pilot waiting for dings and dongs to tell him what is going on.
You take that away, and he’s blind.
Man every time I open up a stream and it’s full of pops and whistles I remember why I don’t really use weakauras. Even if they made me play better, I just don’t feel like using an artificial crutch to play a video game slightly better.
