Hey what is the addon that shows your char in a little portlet window (in game) - it moves and stuff. Does that eat up a lot of memory?

I think you are talking about a character unit frame - I use “Shadowed Unit Frames” But i leave the portraits off.

UI addons such as elvui will do this. Usually an option called ‘3d character portraits’.

I felt there were neat for about 2 min, then decided they took up too much space and disabled them.

Go into the unit frame options, individual frames, player, then find player portrait. You’ll have the option to select either a 2d model, a 3d model, or a moving 3d model.

Alternatively, unlock the the UI and right click on the player anchor, it should take you there.

Elvui eats up a bit of memory no matter what, I don’t think there’s much issue unless you set the raid frames to moving models.

The option is definitely somewhere in that time vampire of menu screens that is elvui.

My PC would die… I am still running I7-4790 and a GTX 760… haha

Are you running a bunch of stuff in the background while you game? Addons shouldn’t affect your computer that much.

My kid always whined about his computer being slow, but he’d always have like 500 things open. When I game, I have maybe 2 other things open - a browser for music/wowhead, and discord on occasion.

Well, Chrome likes to have 15 things going - then there is overwolf, then twitch.. haha

But why wait? Sure, PCIE 5 will be faster, but it’s unlikely you’ll notice a difference. Since it won’t be available till after Intel releases their newness, it’s going to be expensive AF, especially since silicon shortages are still a thing, and there will be scalpers and bots buying them up just like everything else. I mean, it’s your preference, but it’s either going to be impossible to get every part, or it’s going to be super expensive. When it does release, expect last generation parts to lower in price.

I know, its more a psyc thing. If I dump a bunch of money and 6 months later a new better shiny comes out Ill be sad and feel like I wasted my moneys.
