Yeah it seems worse on macOS based on my findings. we definitely get it no matter what. not just same names

With my little bit of research, there’s an AddOns.txt file buried within the hierarchy below your realm/toon name.
And when I exit the game, the file is correct.
That is, I logged in, fix my addons, log out, check the file, and it looks right.
But when I log back in, that file is overwritten.
So, it’s not like I can even backdoor this with something out of game. Its getting corrupted on startup.

What happens if you lock the AddOns.txt file?
Update: I just tested this and locking the file makes no difference. In fact, even though the file was locked, when I exited WoW, the file got updated (or deleted and recreated) anyway and all the addons were enabled.
God, this is wide spread? I’ve been trying to debug my system for hours. So frustrating.

Yea I tried making it read only.
It doesn’t update the file, but it doesn’t read the old one either.

Not to be snarky or anything, but shouldn’t we expect they would have fixed it by now? I’m used to them making Mac bugs dead last priority, after staff parties, lunch, feeding the cat, etc., but sheesh – years?!?

Oh that bug happens on Windows too. It’s just far more prevalent on macOS due to how permissions are handled there, especially on modern macOS (i.e. the versions that the game runs on). The Battle.net app is simply coded very, very badly.

I’m having the same problem! Very annoying!!
So, more anecdotes.
The reset seems to happen on game launch.
If I log into a toon, reset all of the addons, then log in to another too and fix theirs, when I log out and switch back, the addons on the original character are ok.
But if I quit the game and reload, higgledy-piggledyness returns with a vengeance.

Is this still not fixed? This is highly annoying. And I don’t usually get easily annoyed.
Yes, this is super annoying. I’ve also noticed the “show special resources on targets” gets reset each time as well. (Maybe all settings are going to default and this is the only one I notice.)
My workaround for addons is that I have Addon Control Panel installed and it at least lets me quickly load the correct set of addons and then reloadui. But it is still a major pain each login. (I suppose I should just remove all the addons I’m not using until this gets fixed.)

It’s after log in and your characters are loaded. You can watch your AddOns.txt file get updated. Start the game, all fine. As soon as your character list is loaded the file gets updated.
But that’s sort of good news is that you can update your AddOns.txt file as you want it, copy it, and then after the character list is loaded, paste it in, and load your character and you’ll be good to go.

Same issue here. For all I’ve paid in subscription over the last 20 years, they could at least make my interface usable.
