The addons are in the correct folder, I’ve removed them and reinstalled the game… put them back and still not present. I’ve tried the other techniques to fix the issue… is there something I’m missing?
As of 8.1, they need to be inside the _retail_
folder inside of the world of warcraft folder. And then the wtf and interface folder being happens. Are they inside that retail folder?
Yes, when i saw that addition, i double checked to make sure…
Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > WoW > retail > Interface > Addons
i had removed them from the folder, then put them back in… and the addons, while in the folder… continue to not show up.
Have you checked to be sure that the addon has been checked to load in addon list while in Character Loading Screen?
That’s my fault, i should have clarified… the addon button does not appear anywhere, even the character selection screen… this is why i’m at a loss…
@Graia, thank you for making make sure i didn’t miss that. I appreciate that.
You sure you’re running the copy of wow associated with that folder structure?
If you hit options > show in explorer from the launcher it should take you to the correct install.
retail has an underscore at either end _retail_
the path you presented had just retail
I’m having the same issue. Did adding the _ to the retail fix it?
If the _retail_
folder on your PC doesn’t have the leading & trailing underscores, you should add them.
The forum software displays words surrounded by underscores as italics, unless you put them in a preformatted text block like I did above. Since Knotnillusio’s post shows the path with retail in italics, I think it has the underscores already & that isn’t the problem here.
yeah it has the underscores… idky they didn’t show up in my text
OK mine has the underscore as well. I restarted the puter and still no joy.
Apart for new addons not being registered until you completely exit the game and re-start (the pc reboot also works ), then there are only two posabilities. One Elvenbane pointed out about finding the correct game folder, the other being you’re installing a malformed addon (or it’s .zip file) or addon folder structure.
Below Addons, each addon needs to have it’s own folder and within that folder needs to be a file with exactly the same name and an extension of .TOC
Interface\Addons\Addon1
Interface\Addons\Addon1\Addon1.toc
Interface\Addons\Addon2
Interface\Addons\Addon2\Addon2.toc
...
If you have:
Interface\Addons\AddonNamexxxx\AddonName
Interface\Addons\AddonNamexxxx\AddonName\AddonName.toc
Where xxxx could be anything (or nothing) then this will not work.
