I’m sure i’m not alone in saying that I can’t wait to relive my vanilla experience but it would be great if fresh servers were introduced in X months so I can go hard over Y holiday/work period.
Part of my experience from vanilla was when a new server came out and a lot of people moved to it. I liked getting a fresh start, meeting new people and having a clean server state.
One fresh realm I played everything except naxx (which wasn’t released) was available. AQ gates were default closed and character transfers were blocked, though obviously the content released will still follow Blizzard’s release schedule.
I sincerely hope we see fresh servers added intermittently.
This is a terrible idea. The existing servers would die like they usually do. If they do fresh it shouldn’t be until way after Naxx

Welcome back to the forums and game. I also came back. – I am fairly certain that unless there is extreme populations for classic they won’t do additional servers.
What they will be doing is 6 content updates over the course of about 2 years spreading out all the content of vanilla. Ending in nax. So there is 6 chances to get caught up or be top tier. You can likely plan around those as good times to roll new alts also.
The server populations will always fluctuate, the benefits of having clean slate realms is healthy for the whole ecosystem.
You can see here how the realms were originally released

That was back then, when the population of the original game was exploding, and when an expansion was planned. We have no idea how Classic will ultimately fare, population-wise. If Classic’s population seems relatively healthy, it may be possible that they open one fresh server, but IMO if they open too many, the existing ones will be orphaned.
I’m sure they’ve got some kind of plan for how to proceed.
Great way to kill the servers, that.

I think the first server is fresh enough.

Yeah, that’s how we got low servers constantly going to dead, then people demanding fresh servers to repeat the process.

While I also love a fresh start, I have to disagree with your idea here simply because you said
They shouldn’t create servers so people can just get a fresh start when they want to. That’d be like doing seasons, which is not going to happen. IMO, fresh servers should only be created after layering is removed and the population stabilizes. If at that point we still have massive queues, then we should see the creation of new servers.

Lurker implies the OP has spent some time on the forums. 9 posts read at the time of this response.
Well, its’ a good way to kill a server community OP.
might be a good idea after Naxx, but not before then
I think this is the most reasonable answer.
No. Fresh servers aren’t needed.
Fair enough disagreeing with that part, it was more of an added bonus.
Clean servers will more than likely be added intermittently for multitudes of reasons. The previous actions of Blizzard definitely suggest it.
Oh I totally agree, when there was full day maintenance and I was younger and didn’t even know to read patch notes or updates, once I felt like my server experience had gotten stale, I would sit there every Tuesday and hope for a fresh server when the realms were back up…waiting for that “New” tag, I really liked a fresh start too
