Additional change on the back end

Hey there fellow Vanilla lovers. I don’t browse the forums all too often but I was at work today and I was thinking about WoW’s 8.1 update changing on the backend to make the game more efficient for MultiCore CPU’s. I was wondering what you all thought about Classic having this change. I feel like this change has no actual change to the gameplay itself so no harm done.

Basically the only thing that would happen are some of the lower GHz CPU machines with multi cores would run the game a little better.

I think its great but should have been done long ago.

I think this will be in Classic.

Devs was said that wow Classic will use the same retail backend.

As someone said, Classic’s backend will be the same as Retail’s.

Thus, the whole “We don’t want to maintain 2 MMOs statement”.

That being said, I don’t think it’s necessarily for performance gains, but to be more efficient and save $$$. So really, the net remains at the status quo.

Ironic thing is we’re doing the same thing at my current project right now. How do we limit the number of machines we use to save $$$? Let’s revisit our code and infrastructure and see what new technologies we can leverage.

It’s not a change to gameplay. It’s a change to performance. So, yes. This would be perfectly acceptable and welcome.

No, dammit, they need to do the opposite and make the servers so unstable they crash mid raid and reset the instance, just like they did in vanilla.

If I had to get my week of raiding ruined due to server crashes back in vanilla, all you newbies should get your raiding ruined too! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

If the change is to the base then classic will get it since it’s running on 7.3.5.

This change is coming in 8.1. It isnt something that was in 7.3.5
