So with much trepidation, I will concede to an Idea that would maker it possible for Gnomes to a a Paladin. Just not a Paladin of the Light.
A simple way to make Gnomeish filth Paladins is to have them turn to the void. All Gnome Paladin spells would have void coloration.
This would fit as Gnomes are quick to fall into worship of the Void and it would also Allow Blizzard to use the resources to also Make Vold elf paladins. This would also not disrepect the lore of Light based Paladins.
Gnomes and Vold Elfs would be Warriros of the Shadows . Calling on the Void to give them the power then need.
You can imagine its whatever you want, but people have been asking for glyphs to change their spell appearance since Cata. It’s laziness that thwarts this idea.
It was confirmed over a year ago, that they are working towards making all classes available for all races - Evoker class only confirmed exception (so far). Very possible that Shaman or Paladin are next in line, as Druid would probably take the most work.
Trust me I do NOT want Gnome Paladins Druids or Shamans.
If they MUST do it. At least do it with some respect to the lore that was Established by Metzen and co.
If there is one thing I would love is a High elf Alliance paladin. Unfortunately with Void Elf lore as it is, its way too contradictory, but undead can be holy priest cant they? One can dream, I guess
He clearly confirms they are working on it. Also, in a later interview, Ion himself mentioned specifically that Evoker-class on other races was a thing they wouldn’t do, when question about race-class combinations came up again later on. Watch the interviews and pay attention to what they are actually saying…
EDIT: also, i’m not as reluctant to expect they open up classes like Demon Hunter to every single race, it’d be amazed if they got more - maybe void elf + nightborne at the most.
He said they are WORKING towards it, not that they are LOOKING into it. You are the one who’s actually twisting words here, not me. You don’t say that you are working towards something if you aren’t planning on actually doing it. That’s not “looking into it”
And a Paladin is a very specific, very European Knight type of thing, but WoW now has Holy Cows and Trolladins.
Honestly, I feel naming the class “Paladin” was probably the big mistake. It would be like having a very specific themed type of class, like a Samurai, but having them be available to all people and culture, and changing how they look and act. “Here’s the American Samurai, with his cowboy hat and machine gun.”
