I think I intend this to be more of discussion rather than just asking for a change. I think it would be better if all abilities that weren’t on the global cooldown had something like “This ability does not trigger the global cooldown” written at the end of its tooltip or something? Is it better to not say that to emphasize player skill/memory? There’s no way I personally care to keep track of all class ability GCD changes and stuff between expacs
Easy change, adds some text. I could see why some people dislike it since it’s just extra text when they can assume with 99% accuracy if it’ll trigger the GCD or not. I’m in favor though. It’s a quick and easy change that’s going to provide the ittiest bit of flavor of life. I could see it being nice.
I suppose another suggestion that’s similar is adding if you can cast it while casting other spells for casters. An example is for warlocks if grimoire of sacrifice is ever viable again. When you sacrifice your demon you get it’s main ability. With your demon up you can cast it while casting other spells, but with it sacrificed, using it cancels whatever you’re currently casting.
It be easier just to color code the cooldown much like how cooldowns affected by haste are green, cooldowns that don’t affect your skills globally could be orange.
Just hit the button and see if it incurs a GCD.
I’m not against the addition but I do think it is pointless.
I’ve thought for a while now that blizz’s ability (and other) descriptions are at times lazy and unclear especially after they change things. You shouldn’t have to go to Wowhead or whatever to get clarity on an ability’s mechanic.
A while back they indicated that they were pruning tooltips. I think they wanted the flexibility to be able to change an ability without having to edit the tooltip.
In any case, it’s pretty annoying trying to buy gear on the AH for a leveler who has essentially no weapon when they’ve deliberately left out the minimum level required to equip a boe.
