Title says it all, why is there no coordinate tracking for the base game’s map? Addons should not be required for this imo.

Because everything directly game-related is marked for you on the game map.
The game never gives coordinates or tells you to go to a specific coordinate without showing you where it is.
Coordinates are a player-made method of sharing location information. They did give us the ability to mark/share stuff in game…so they are at least facilitating it now. Also, WoWhead allows you to import map pins into the game now when you click on coordinates, which makes them even more unnecessary.

Addons are always better than when Blizzard tries to implement what was an addon.
