The thing I find so funny about these discussions is that you can tell right from the outset when you’re dealing with people who will tell bold-faced lies to score points and drum up sympathy or support.
If Blizzard is so evil and terrible, people shouldn’t need to misrepresent their words to get people to agree with them on it. This is especially exhausting to deal with in politics too. If you truly think that someone is wrong, why must you twist their words and make a conscious decision to put words in their mouths? Let them speak for themselves if you’re so confident that they’re wrong! If people truly are incorrect and evil, then their own words should be perfectly sufficient for their own downfall!
So yeah, this community is absolutely absurd. It’s absolutely no wonder to me that we hardly ever see blue posts here. People take good-willed developer updates and twist them into absolutely ridiculous “BLIZZARD IS RUINING THE GAME AND IT’S INTENTIONAL REEEEEEE” https://i.imgur.com/W4Aat4S.gif
I’m actually pretty interested in what they mean by challenges. The first thought I had was something like the hard modes from Ulduar that were check based. I remember my raid group back in the day accidentally set off the XT hard mode and had a hearty surprise. If that’s what they end up implementing I’m all for it, if it turns out to just be increased boss health and damage with no change in mechanics i’ll be pretty disappointed in Blizz(again i guess)
Also cuz bloom is here
He’s actually just a performance actor, no need to engage.
I mean it doesn’t matter what they call it, if they change the difficulty of dungeons that you can scale up? It’s mythic+ well I guess heroic+ since there is no mythic but regardless. Anything increasing difficulty is making it heroic+.
I guess the better question is will how likely is blizzard to be lazy and just do mythic+ instead of doing something interesting?
Like at this point who thinks blizzard will actually do anything interesting like add news bosses and mechanics? Or are they just going to take affixes and scaled HP/damage from mythic+ and call it “challenges”
If a true casual with no raid aspirations beyond lfr…yes.
Otherwise…no.
Raiders need to push mythic + to run raid. If Brian sets this up like Ion…raid BIS gear be will a few dungeon pieces off his envisioned top level heroics to sim the best. and thus fotm meta cutoffs are born.
Pvp’ers if caring more…need the raid and the mythic D. some BIS pvp gear is carebear gear. Usually the rings at least. I will remove tier set since a rented system and gone in 10.0. PVE rings from raid/dungeon matched to the conquest ring of BIS stats happens pretty much every expac and/or season.
now you work up the mythic dungoen…to raid heroic minimal to push higher mythic D…to get the ring that is also good vers and primary stat.
Or you jsut stay a nice content casual honor gear 7/7 and some 1/7 conquest slots scrub like me in retail.
My issue with these added 'challenges" to keep the difficulty up as we get raid gear isn’t really helping anything.
Yes, it drags us back into the heroics forever to keep up with gearing, but it does so in a way that excludes lesser geared player that wants the heroic, but isn’t ready for the challenge part.
So, sure, more people are running the heroic, but this implementation fractures the player base because they are basically running two different versions of the heroic, so the lesser geared players aren’t benefitting from this added group of players running heroics.
At least the RDF gave badges everyone could use, and got lesser geared players mixed in with people that were overgeared so the runs went mostly smoothly.
If these challenges end up as a daily quest kind of deal, we also potentially end up with an annoying situation where you can only do it once per day, then can’t help any other guild members or friends do it. The RDF also helped with that because it didn’t matter what heroic you did, so you could help a few different groups do it that day if you wanted to.
A lot of these heroic changes just feel like they are trying to recreate alternate paths to get the same benefits that the RDF already had.
I think its fairly obvious that theyve heard the community, they have the data to show that mythic+ in Wrath would have more than enough people celebrating it to make them feel its the right decision.
With the amount of passive aggressive snark that comes out of the “community” it makes me feel less bothered by Blizz’s choices when they do something unexpected. I honestly feel like they are trolling most of you and you totally deserve it lol.
Given that’s how they described Mythic+ when they introduced it.
And the fact they put the LFG Tool from retail into wrath, that is mostly used for Mythic+?
Not that much of a stretch.
This is Wrath Reforged we’re talking about not wrath classic, blizzards quite happy to make huge massive changes all over the place.
I’m convinced they are jealous of the fact old blizzard made a better expansion than they ever could, so they want to mess it up to make it worse to be like 'See? wrath wasn’t that amazing, look how messed up it is… after we messed it up."
LoL ironically I don’t think very many people at all are going to be happy with wrath classic at this point as they would have been with #nochanges.
The people thinking these changes are going to be great are going to be in for a rude surprise when they find out how some of these retail features actually play out in practice.
