Adding a queue option to duel other players

Blizzard has said many times that they have no intention of implementing a 1v1 arena to their rated gameplay options. Their reasoning is that it is essentially a “glorified duel” and duels are already in the game so there’s no need to add the arena option.

ok… a few issues.

  1. 2v2, 3v3, even battlegrounds are essentially nothing more than a controlled area to engage in pvp. World pvp exists already too. so by that logic there is no need to have instanced pvp at all because you can already fight players of the opposite faction in the open world.

  2. I understand the complexities of trying to balance that for a rated system, but hear me out… I know this sounds crazy… But what if it just wasn’t rated??? I love to duel, tons of people do, and it sucks that either no one around you is down to do it, and you can only duel your own faction unless you have 2 extra friends (yeah right…) who can queue you into a 2s match and leave… at least I think that’s still the only archaic way of doing it… How amazing would it be if on the “quick match” panel, right where bg blitz used to sit, it said “1v1 duel”?!? no rating. just a system that puts two people who want to duel together…

  3. This would take such minimal effort, on blizzards part. use existing arenas, and literally change the amount of people on each team for the same format as arena skirmish queues… It would also give a whole new level of engagement and practice when you’re bored. something that should interest blizzard since thats the moment when you start to think about things like, oh i dont know… some other game.

it seems so easy and obvious. honestly it feels like a stubborn denial of simple joy. and if i had to guess, its in that same effort that blizzard always seems to make, where your typical raider, and r1 3’s players are the only people who blizzard is interested in keeping happy. unfortunately those people are never happy. creating any joy for newer, or just less invested, players somehow angers them. and blizzard totally coddles their gatekeepiness.

anyway… im for grrrrrr. I want to duel from the pvp panel not just maybe find someone once a day… thoughts?

If it offered no rewards I don’t see a problem with it.

Otherwise you’re just opening an express lane for gearing whatever class is the solo meta at the moment.

does this not exist anymore? i do remember it being a thing in BFA

Blizzard’s Preview of the Dueler’s Guild in Battle for Azeroth - Wowhead News

I am pretty sure the pvp players have always said that classes are not balanced around 1 v1 , if they were then a healer would be destroyed in 2s and 3s in seconds in pvp

yeah we understand that which is why we probably won’t ever have a rated duel mode - but i do agree with OP - there should be a queueable duel system that is unranked for people who just like to duel and cant find people outside SW/Org on their layer.

but, in my opinion, blizzard could implement a dueling system and have the rating be spec specific just like solo shuffle and not allow any tank or healer specs to participate.

For example, say that frost Dks are really really bad at dueling 1v1, but if you play a frost dk, your rating would only be relative to other frost dks, so you could get ranked rewards based on your relative rating to other members of your spec.

I don’t see why not have it. Sure the balancing would be terrible but is 2v2 balancing really that much better? Lol

see. this girl gets it…

I very much dislike how they don’t let us duel freely in cities.

Yes, there are some areas we can, like the PvP room and outside of it, but still.

IRL, you see people having fistfights in the streets and stuff lol.

Allowing duels anywhere, would make cities feel a bit more realistic and fun.

As for a dueling queue system, I think Blizzard is just lazy. It could be DPS-only, like how Solo Shuffle works without healers present. Just 1v1 DPS-only rounds.

Don’t have it be rated (because 1v1 will never truly be balanced), but maybe add some rewards just for incentive.
