Add SoD variations of the “rune specs” to TWW “Hero Talents” to give more tank/heal variety. I think that would be really awesome?!
SoD doesn’t add new specs, it gives new abilities to existing classes to let them perform roles that they couldn’t before. They can’t be copypasted to retail because the two versions of the game have vastly different talent systems, and in retail’s case, its specs are designed to be capable of only one role each.
They’re not classes, they’re subsets of talents. They’re for augmenting classes’ playstyles, not the aforementioned role expansion.
Edited properly
Hero talents arent there to create new roles. They are to help in the roles already there.
Well; figure it out than.
To me the reverse actually seems more plausible.
The issue would be if it actually gave more variety.
I don’t see an issue ?

I am asking how would it give more variety?
If we want to introduce new healing/tanking specs we need to introduce something new about those specs for variety.
If a healing mage healed just like a holy priest, thats not more variety. Its the same thing with a different class skin.
Not a fan of adding more tanks when tank balance has never been great. Moreover from my pov about those tanking experiments in SoD is pretty negative, I don’t think SoD is a good example of what I like from tanking.
Is holy and arcane healing really the same though?
My thought seeing the hero talents is all of them seem to have what looks like an ultimate ability. I don’t see how you couldn’t make arcane healing and destro tanking if they made a hero talent tree that mimicked the runes from SoD, but with more retail flair/complimentary talents
Its not about the “lore” of healing.
Its about the mechanics of healing. A new healing or tank spec really would need to have something new about its playstyle.
Which means those hero talents are 100% worthless for anyone that wants to use their mage as dps. Which is the opposite of what hero talents are.
Hero talents are designed to continue the progression of the specs in question. Not change them into a different role.
Healing is more complicated in retail than SoD/Classic. You cant just create an entire spec from 1 talent node.
That’s what I mean. Holy isn’t an exclusive do damage to heal while arcane is no?
You seem to be ignoring the DPS trees
No, thats disc priest and mw monks and h paladins
what?
There’s more than 1 hero talent tree per class.
Correct. There are 2.
Each spec gets 2 options.
I don’t think this is accurate. I’ve seen multiple classes with 3 and Druid has 4. I don’t think giving feedback for an in development product to take from itself is a bad idea. More talent options=good thing imo
It is accurate.
As a resto shaman, I get 2 hero class options.
There is 1 “option” for each spec, and it overlaps with 1 other spec.
Resto shares one option with ele. Shares a second option with enh.
Enh shares one option with ele. Shares a second option with Resto.
Having a warlock turn into a demon abomination to tank would be epic. I would not do it. I would love to see it tho
The unfortunate reality is most SoD specs are significantly easier to play optimally than retail specs so they wouldn’t be the same straightforward, fun versions, they would have to add a bunch of random cooldowns and stupid upkeep buffs and complicate the damage rotations more to make them balanced with retail healers.
