I feel like add ons are hacking. If we want the features added shouldn’t Blizzard do it?
Depends…
Some addons merely move debuffs and buff icons or timers that exist in the default UI to superior locations or add theme that looks more appealing.
However some addons are in a way as you say “cheating” because they do provide things that the default in no way peovides to the player, and in that way I do agree.

Blizzard does on occasion limit what addons can do, and some get deleted as a result. I guess Blizzard would rather rely on players to build addons for small QoL improvements they would add if they hate time resources or inclination.
UI changing Addons are not, game-helpers are.
And with Blizz more and more ruining or disabling the true Classic UI, addons become more necessary.
