Adding eight new Race/Class combos for Dragonflight is a every good thing for the game and I like that.
But I’m pretty sure we could add some more new Race/Class combos with these new ones for Dragonflight . It can only make the game better. The more Race/Class combos we have, better it is.
Here are the Race/Class combos we could add with the new ones:
Goblin => Monk (All races can be monks + Gakkiz Blusterblast is a Goblin monk)
Highmountain Tauren => Warlock (Bloodtotem tribe + It could be interesting to give warlock class - Bloodtotem tribe - to Highmountain Taurens as we can have it with the paladin class - Sunwalkers - for the Taurens from Mulgore)
Blood Elf => Shaman (They are in the Horde for 8 years + Many of the Horde races master shamanism + “Master your magical addiction with shamanism to work in a respectful union with the elements”)
Night Elf => Paladin (Night Elf paladin, warriors who wield the power of Elune, the moon goddess in Night Elf mythology - it’s the same concept that Zandalari paladins with Zandalari troll prelates, warriors who wield the power of tRezan or Tauren paladins with the Sunwalkers, warriors who wield the power of An’she, the sun in Tauren mythology)
Draenei => Warlock (Warlock class isn’t just about Fel magic but Dark magic / Void power / Shadow magic / Necromantic magic too + They sometimes pledge themselves to the service of noble causes and are not innately evil + It gives us more “rp class” like Shaman for Dwarf - Wildhammer - or Mage for Night Elf - Highborne - or Rogue for Draenei - Rangari - or Priest for Mag’har Orc - Shadowmoon clan, Mag’har Darkcasters - or Rogue for Tauren - Grimtotem Tauren, Grimtotem Bandit - or Paladin for Tauren - Sunwalker - or Paladin for Zandalari Trolls - Zandalari prelate)
Lightforged Draenei => Monk (All races can be monks + Draenei can be monks + Even Nightbornes can be monks while they were isolated behind a protective barrier for 10,000 years)
Worgen => Monk (All races can be monks + “Master the beast inside you”)
Human => Druid (Kul Tirans are Humans as every other ones. Jaina Proudmoore and Katherine Proudmoore are Kul Tirans. We don’t have “normal” / tall humans in the “Kul Tirans race”, only tall Humans. Kul Tirans know druidism because of Ulfar and the Thornspeakers.)
Pandaren => Druid (The same concept that Zandalari druids with the Loa but with the August celestial for the Pandaren)
Please keep in mind we don’t have a race with all the classes of the game for this part (for now ).
Dwarf => Druid (Wildhammer Dwarves can be druids + Shaman class for Bronzebeard dwarves because of Wildhammer Dwarves in Cataclysm + another “rp class” for the Dwarf race)
Zandalari Troll => Warlock (They can be warlock + Zandalari priests and mages wield magic with incredible power and utilize forbidden knowledge)
Hard “no” for the draenei warlock.
They spent all that time, blood, lives, etc, fighting/running from the Legion, they’re not gonna just start allowing their own people to become anything Legion related.
It’s a huge cultural thing, too.
There is such a thing as outcasts that don’t follow what the culture normally expects. Orcs hate warlocks, yet orcs can be warlocks. Draenei hate warlocks, but draenei could still be one if they wanted to and ignore the “rules.”
There is no gene that dictates what classes they can be. Only their personal choices can do that. That is the true essence of an RPG. Without the option of playing the rebel, it really isn’t a choice at all and is instead an on-rails roller coaster ride where your choices are made for you. That is not an RPG, that is barely an action game.
Besides, Holinka already said all would be unlocked eventually. So best get used to the idea now.
It isn’t genes preventing them. Its culture. Draenei culture doesn’t allow for it, and a draeni warlock would cease to be a draenei. Theyd be labeled as Manari and either exiled or executed. Draenei might also be concerned by the fact that many of them have been turned into Broken because of fel (Nobundo), and lose their connection to the Light, which is a really huge cornerstone of who/what they are.
Orc culture is very different than the draenei.
So does every member of a culture always follow what the culture says? Are they individuals? Or clones? You are basically saying they have no choice and are programmed at birth, but that is not how culture works.
Orc culture is not so different than draenei culture. Culturally speaking, they also hate warlocks, the fel, the Legion, Sargeras, etc. It is very taboo to practice demonic magic in orc culture. But that is the CULTURE, which is something INDIVIDUALS don’t have to abide by. Individual orcs can choose to rebel against cultural “rules” and practice fel magic in secret, hidden away from society. Because they can make choices, and sometimes that choice is to “be the bad guy” or break every cultural convention.
Why can’t a draenei or lightforged draenei break cultural conventions too? We see plenty of their kin doing this already, like Archimonde and Kil’jaeden. It’s quite ridiculous to suggest that there couldn’t be a turncoat or two hiding away in the draenei population and practicing taboo magic. Maybe they are spies? Who knows? That is the fun of the roleplaying game.
I would love more classes for Dracthyr eventually, but that will prolly be more of a expansion after Dragonflight thing. Warrior, Mage, and Druid would make sense at the very least, though.
For normal races though? Lesse…
Nightborne and Vulpera Druids. Nightborne could be curious about the tree that saved their lives, and seek out their cousins in Val’sharah, and Vulpera are pretty respectful of the natural world, and might have just been curious. Mostly I just want those two because I think their Druid forms would be great.
The Eredar are Draenei too. or more so, Eredar is the name of the race. the Draenei are the ones who fled with Velen, the Man’ari are the ones who (reluctantly) stayed. They have been brainwashed, tortured and forced into the fel magics. (see the story of Velen’s own son, who became the Man’ari who was forced to take over the Exodus in the scenario with light’s heart)
Now that the controlling demons are slain, why can they not seek out their old kin and plead for forgiveness?
I agree with the OP except for the Blood elf shaman. Unless they make a bargain like the Goblins do. I’d much more see them ‘force’ nature/elements to do their stuff with arcane magic, like the botanists in TBC and Nighthold.
That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Blood elf druids that use the arcane magic to substitute the skills. It exists in the lore.
HMT Paladins (they’re getting Priest and just like Thunder Bluff tauren, they worship An’she too.)
Goblin Monks Zandalari DH
Troll Paladins (since it’s heavily implied that Volj’in is going to be the new Loa of Kings)
Dwarf Druid (Wildhammer)
Eredar Demon Hunters (eredar are already a part of the Illidari)
Kul Tiran Warlock and Paladin
Gnome Shaman and Paladin
Night Elf Paladin
Worgen Monk
Panda Druid with the following forms: ox for guardian, tiger for feral, green wind serpent/humanoid form for balance, turtle for swimming, wind serpent for flying and crane for ground travel.
Also 1/3 part of warlocks is curses/hexes which is practically a hobby for trolls, so it’s ridiculous that they can’t be them. Not to mention port of zemlam and that one rare which are all warlocks.
The Bloodtotem who became warlocks were not our friends. The ones who joined the Horde along with the other tribes were the ones who didn’t side the Legion, hence why they don’t have warlock as a class in the first place.
They don’t need more classes, and not having shaman fits them (and undead) being outliers among the Horde.
The race that worships the holiest beings in the universe and spent eons fighting/running from the Legion should be the last one to get the demon-binding class. Not sure why there’s been an uptick of people trying to meme this particular combo into existence.
How hard is it to understand that in any society there is a range of personality types? Some of those personalities might bend to the status quo and follow cultural norms, others, however, will buck those trends and do their own thing. It’s really not complicated, unless you lack imagination that is.
