With the native addition of some controller support, is there any justification on why we can’t macro ground targeted abilities at target? PVP-reasons?
We can do something like
/cast [@player] Healing Rain
but not something like
/cast [@target] Healing Rain
It seems like one of the biggest gaps to cover for controller based play.

For separate reasons, I LOVE the idea of @target macros and have been hoping for this for years.
Also macros with more advanced conditionals, please
(Specifically IF effect is on the target, IF target is below (or, alternatively, above) Y% health, and so on)
Because it would surpass normal targeted spells for convenience. I think the comprise already happened which was @cursor which already does speed up using targeted abilities which is nice.
conditionals would be too far to the macro playing the game for you
@target is long overdo for ground effects though
Ground targeting and @cursor in this game are horrible. Nothing like having your curse placed firmly on the ground but your aoe goes on the ceiling

I have mistakenly meta’d on top of a ceiling before. I however doubt they’d allow players to take the targeting out of target spells.
they already do for melee classes, only ranged has to suffer
You can’t @target any ground targeting abilities on any class, even melee.
You can target @player for melee and as long as you’re in melee range it’ll hit, obviously that doesn’t work for range unless they want to go stand in melee.
Guess i could become a melee mm lol
Bro i thought it was just me but Im always jumping around in mythic+ and acting a fool, I fricken wild spirits the ceiling accidently because I guess we were in a closed space and me jumping around somehow caused the game to believe I was casting it far above me?
Could’ve sworn my cursor was on the ground.
Yea, happened to me on a big pull in SD last night… this game handles tight spaces HORRIBLY
It’s stupid to do that as I would lose the mobility that skill gave me. Less dumb than how bad it would be for ranged but not a good idea.
Thats why you have 2 keybinds, one macro’d one not.
even with @target you’d still need at least an @cursor because sometimes you want to cast ahead of the mob as it runs.
This game handles ground targeted crap so poorly i’m in full support of an @target macro for targeted spells.
It really isn’t some big advantage, FFXIV has it (and their ground targetting isn’t nearly as finicky as wows).
If it was implemented you could always shift or ctrl mod the skill too rather than having two.
I use shift and ctrl as action bar modifiers so it’s the same thing ony bars haha
