Adding Lava Burst to Resurgence would promote and actually reward players for casting Lava Burst in raid scenarios. I think its a little disheartening for other healers in a patch where they wanted to make mana more of a resource, they give MW the ability to regen 2 full mana bars during a raid fight with mana tea and disc priest not too far behind that with their mindbender and their tier that allows them to gain mindbender back faster. Im not saying make it a ton of mana back, but it would be nice to have a way to get some back while little to no healing is required.
TBH. they should of made resto the “regen mana for the raid healers” spec of this patch so they could bring unique raid utility since them and ele are now the only 2 specs in the game with no raid or group buff. Could of done this by buffing mana spring (which is not good at all) and mana tide. But this is a different conversation.

Mana spring would actually be decent if lava burst didn’t cost 1250 mana. They should double mana spring (300) for resto and add 0.60% mana (1500 mana refund I think) to resurgence lava bursts, then you’re actually rewarded for it on flame shocks.
It’s painful to run lava surge on tyrannical because some bosses I need all the mana I can get, but lava surge is also the only way to weave dmg in between heals but it is so draining on mana.
They originally buffed it to like 250 and it still wasnt good but they nerfed it again because it was “giving more mana then expected”. Its just a sad talent right now

But at the same time. You promote the passive healing, high haste, low crit, hst builds.
Those, by design, will be more mana intensive on tyrannical bosses.
Except it’s not though.
I have better mana economy than chain heal build get out of here lol
Haste builds, by default, have worse mana economy due to having low crit and getting less back from resurgence and having things like ancestral awakening not doing nearly as much.
There is a reason every guide in existence suggests high crit.
The “chain heal” build isnt about spamming chain heal, just occasionally hitting it for a massive heal that feeds into cloudburst. Which is more impactful and more healing than HST.
You want to go against the flow, and thats fine.
But there is a reason that every single high end resto shaman basically disagrees. And one of those reasons is how universally, haste builds are seen as less mana efficient. Specifically in scenarios you are describing. Tyrannical bosses.
You have to cast more often for weaker heals per cast.
I still have crit. My build exploits the tier set. It’s also not really against the flow when it’s been adopted the longer the season has gone on.
I promise you it’s more mana efficient. Stop being weird.
The tier set is weird. It’s fine if you want to build into it with rot fights or low damage but once you start to get into H smolderon for example it is simply far too tedious and annoying.
It’s why most shamans return to chain healing.
It’s been great on every boss fight I’ve done in raid, it’s not immediately intuitive to play around but it’s really good. And I speak mainly from doing keys.
It’s good, it’s just too slow especially as damage ramps up.
No, it’s just slow to set up in a raid environment. It’s a ton of preparation where you want to squeeze as much as you can in a 15 sec window and there are a lot of other factors that have to play into it to be effective. Now when it works it works amazing but again it’s just too bothersome.
