Add Bot Prevention Systems to Battlegrounds

Something that I think would be an easy fix for eliminating bots is some form of verification every time you wanted to join a battleground. For example, you could add something like a “finish the sentence,” “fill in the blank,” or “describe a photo” verification like how you have to type “DELETE” if you wanted to delete an item of rare quality or better. I would like to know what other ideas people have on this.

adding a captcha prior to a BG? Sounds like what you are asking for.

Regardless of if that is a bad/good idea it would require work on behalf of blizzard.

I would like to hear some ideas from other people. Hopefully this isn’t just a trashing Blizz thread lol

  1. Too much work for Blizzard.
  2. Only treats a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. The bot accounts need to be banned. That is the only real solution.

Add a rating requirement of 500 to gems and such.

Now they can’t spend honor, they won’t bot bgs

I like this idea. Maybe even bump up the rating a bit more? This would definitely slow down the bots in their gearing and gold inflation. 700-1k rating is achievable by any player in a single play session.

Have you been living under a rock since the start of 2023? I can write a python script in less than 50 lines that does this using the ChatGPT/CLIP API, with like 99% accuracy. Trust me, writing an intelligent bot would be waayyyyy harder than any of the “anti-bot” strategies you’ve suggested.

lol?
you underestimate bots,
not gonna name it but certain bot successfully gets you 2k when most actual players fail to even achieve 1800  :joy:

players doesn’t lose rating till 1k, any mindless gold seller can get to 1k in 1day of play.

You lol at me but not the crappy company allowing the bots?

In think you might be a bit behind the times on how insane the terminators are now…, they’re like battling the T1000,

Well, just have a look.

Oh I’ve seen it but very few run that by comparison.

my bad, sorry i didn’t mean that
but anyway i’ve been trash talking blizzard in past 12years! & I can’t believe that new players join this trash game despite the massive bots / abuses and real money trades, ignorance must be a bliss.

Something needs to be done about the Botanica bots, they’re getting out of hand.

That level of botting is near the apex of this time, but even the cyborgs (player steered bots) are out there far more frequently.

When i get kicked on a presence of mind cast (example presence of mind sheep) its 100% botting, and its unfortunately all too common.

I wish blizz would remove addons like weakauras, would kill the script bots pretty quick.

That would indeed slow them down for a while. They would need to actually hack the client at that point or make a bespoke cheat client. That would be however easier to detect, actually very easy to detect with a little creative thinking.

I know that I can adapt to not using that stuff, and sure it will slow me down slightly but it will also do the same for everyone so its overall “Fair”.

Another thing I would love to see die are macro’s that target and apply abilities automatically, they’re macros for applying DoT’s across numerous target, rogues use them for sap, and various other application. The reason to kill them is simple, it kills off bad behavior that these implement. Another thing that in reality should die off are Arena frame 1,2,3 targeting and application macro. I like the ability to hit my Target arena 1,2,3 (4/5) and that’s fine, but say for example a rogue using Arena frame target 2 sap, so he can insta sap soon as that player is even detectable by his client (not him), is not really playing the game, its low level scripting (I do this too) because its part of the UI and you need to use things like this to compete. (beating up on rogues because they’re an easy target)

Any way, there is a lot of “Trimming” that really should happen for the betterment of the game overall, and would improve the experience of every player. I know there will be backlash over this way of thinking, I know people will hate on me for saying it but really it needs to be said.

I’m aware of this, but the discussion still needs to happen. It’s always a tug of war between devs and bots. It’s on the developers to be steps ahead of the botters with this new technology kept in mind.

End of the day they need to scrap WoW and port it into WoW2 with built in “addons” and disable third party

They could even just hire the current addon devs.

So instead of controversy over paid addons, blizz pays them to make them

I’d call WoW2 “Worlds of Warcraft” or “Realms of Warcraft”

That would be an awesome game if Blizzard was not creatively bankrupt.

it wasn’t me who linked that bot for rogues bideo and that was not the bot i’m talking about :stuck_out_tongue: Honorbuddy bought scripts could gets anyone/any class 2k and that bot existed in wow for whole 5x expansions and surprisingly blizzard only banned it after 8years from discovering about it xD

all i’ve said is that people underestimate botting which existed in wow since 2005 YUP any old player are familier with the massive hunter bots in vanilla in farming spots sili/fw…etc and the funny fact is, with time Bots advanced more than players, you might not believe but trust me when i say, a bot can parse 99% and reach 2.4k arena with pre-made scripts, lots of mop-wod top guilds used botting all the time for perfect rotations and switch target conditions.

when it comes to real money trades, those farmers/bots will have zero problem if they need to waste ~1hour to get 1k rate on every single char.
